So I finally sold the RD-700SX, but have long since chucked the original box and packaging. I'm leaving it up to the UPS Store to box and ship it. Are there any special preparations, provisions, instructions, etc., that I need to do? Besides over-insuring it, I'd guess.

Thanks in advance.

No carrier that I'm aware of in the UK will insure a musical instrument so check if it is insurable at all - the small print often excludes musical instruments.

Good luck,

Steve

There is no point to "over insure" it. UPS will only pay market value no matter how much you insure it for. I would declare the value to be exactly what the buyer paid for it. Insuring for more is just giving UPS a gift.

How to pack? Let the UPS store do it then there can be no complaint later about improper packing. But if you want to pack it. the best way is to wrap it in 4" of bubble wrap then place it into a crush proof box. Sometimes the UPS store will make a box "crush proof' by lining it with 2" styrofoam.
