It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
The Marsalis family is very talented. Wynton's brother, Branford, opened a community music center with with Harry Connick Jr. about a year ago. It offers support for the local musicians, and gives free music lessons to the kids, along with training in things like audio and lighting. They give back so much.
PPP, I get tired watching that. Too much bouncing!
Greetings! It's hard to believe my vacation is just about over. At least I got plenty of rest and time at the piano. It was way too hot for bike riding, however!
Aimee, thanks for those postings yesterday. I enjoyed them all. I've been exploring some of my favorite Andean music and have found some new things by Rumillajta. Though this Bolivian group disbanded more than 10 years ago, they left behind a tresure trove of wonderful Andean music.
Here they perform "Takiririllasu." Sorry for the abrupt cutoff at the end!
Currently doing a contract for a teevee company, all a bit mad. Here's Etienne de Crecy with Le patron este devenu fou!, which seems apt. (the boss has gone mad)
Currently working on: F. Couperin - Preludes & Sweelinck - Fantasia Chromatica J.S. Bach, Einaudi, Purcell, Froberger, Croft, Blow, Frescobaldi, Glass, Couperin 1930s upright (piano) & single manual William Foster (harpsichord)
Greetings! It's back to work today after a very pleasant staycation. Here's a little music popular when I was a teen. Down memory lane with "It's the Same Old Song" by The Four Tops.
Polyphasicpianist... lol well, I hope everyone took "note" of PPP's posting.
Microsoft seems to have re-invented the Bontempi organ that actually went out of fashion in the seventies on the same day as it didnt come into fashion.
This is really hideous considering what is allready on the market for kids and adults in terms of music programs.
If microsoft intended it for "young christians" / no sex before marriage/ apple pie/ the alcohol free brandy drinkers group , the deaf, mentally impaired, or the musically lame...
They nailed it.
Havent they heard of pro tools, Reason, Abelton?
Obviously not..

Thanks, for clarifying this Rossy! I was just about to leave for work when I saw your post. Frankly I was quite confused and thought it was some kind of joke, and I was (still?) feeling clueless because I didn't understand the joke.
It's deliberately, self-consciously, and insanely awful enough to be great. My favorite part was the daughter's use of a MacBook Pro for an application that only works on Windows. They tried to cover the Apple logo with a flower! But not quite. Very Clever.
Every disease is a musical problem. Its cure, a musical solution. -- Novalis
When I listened to the nocturne No 10 by John Field for the first time, I fell in love with it. I thought I could give it a try on the piano, but when I saw the sheet music, I realized that my level is clearly below this piece. It’s a pity, but this music is not as easy as it looks.
In any case, it’s a wonderful nocturne, and at least, I can enjoy listening to it.
I like that a lot, Recaredo. I have a piece by Field I want to play but there is a run of thirds and my hands don't like to do that (yet!). It's Nocturne 5.
Hah when I was looking it up I saw there was a Nocturne 5 with Gaga's Bad Romance.. I would post it for Wayne but it's not good, and not in a fun way.
Thanks Wayne for posting the other metamorphosis pieces in the series - they seem just as haunting and I think our neighbours will be subjected to the sound of attempts to play this music for a considerable time yet as we work through these pieces. Having said that with M no 2, it always seems to slow/grind to a halt in the same tricky spot each time and some disciplined and methodical practice is called for.
Aimee and Recaredo - as you both like the Field Nocturnes a lot, maybe its worth trying to learn them even if they do seem too difficult in places.
