Hey, I just finished memorizing the entire sonata, so now I can focus on practicing parts I don't have technically down yet. Everything is going pretty well except for these runs. Whenever I do these the fingering just feels a bit awkward, at least the ones I use. What I use is as follows, and the [brackets] indicate where I struggle in:

- Measures 33 - 34: 1 2 3 1 2 [4 3] 2 1

My teacher noticed I was stumbling on my fingers, so she recommended 1 2 3 1 2 3 2 [1 1], but then I feel a delay when I repeat the runs in measure 34, probably because I'm switching from 1 to 1


- Measure 35: 1 2 3 1 2 3 4 [5 4 5 4 5] 4 3 2 1

Trilling in my 4th and 5th fingers is not a strength of mine. Is there another fingering I could use here that doesn't require 4 and 5? Or should I begin practicing my 4-5 trill? crazy

- Measure 40: 1 2 3 1 2 3 [4 1] 2 3 [4 1] 2 3 4

I seem to have trouble crossing over from 4 to 1. Is there another fingering I could use here? Or is this something that requires practice? I'm thinking if I had to stick with this fingering, I'd have to practice the thumb over method for this, is that correct?

These runs are similar to measures 129 to 135, but I use the same fingering with the exception of 131 which surprisingly doesn't feel that bad.

Maybe it's just a matter if practice for these, but before I do that, I'd like to hear from you guys if there are better ways for executing these passages.

Any help would be much appreciated! eek

You could try looking at the editorial fingering suggestions for this piece at IMSLP. There are around 12 different editions posted there.

For example, I checked one of the editions for measure 33 and it gives 12313432 which seems to avoid any jumping and is what I would use.

I think many pianists just do a turn for the trill, i.e. 45434. If you want to play more notes, 4534323(then the octave with 1-4) might work but I'm not at the piano to try it.
