I can't get it anymore, not by the link, not by the youtube search. frown I don't understand why this breaches copyright more than anything else on youtube. When you play a recording for us, that may technically breach copyright, but, with respect, the sound quality isn't that great, so if anything I am more likely to buy the real thing.

very nice Cus! The trips were perfect to me. Nice long line. The last short one was actually particularly great, did you compose that one ahead of time?

How many keys left ?

Thanks Knotty and 10.
I'm really comfortable with descending lines which the last one was. As you know, Clifford Brown is wonderful with descending lines either short or long. Descending lines are internalised within me now especially where I don't have to change key (I always laugh to myself when I do them because Dave calls them downhill skiing).

Plus I'm really comfortable with short endings because Dave does them sometimes in his JOI tunes.

So I can do all sorts of combinations of descending short line endings even in my sleep wink

However what I consciously have to work on are:
1. Ascending lines
2. The beginning phrase of my improv. I never like my sound that much when I start off. Once I am over the first phrase, I'm kinda relieved and enjoy the improv so much more.
But when I get onto tunes, hopefully my first phrase will sound better as I can then use the melody as a guide.

I only have one more progression, G maj, YE-EEE-S !!!

I can relate to this - only I see it as the beginning of each phrase. Once I'm going it's much easier to hear something good in what I played. The first little bit of each phrase is harder to control, harder to believe in.

10,

for that I do 2 things.

- Start by playing the melody
- Run the arpeggios and scales.

When you feel you don't really remember the changes, doing this brings it back real fast.

Still blocked.
The irony is that I just bought the cd after hearing it on your masterclass. The stupidity of record companies is unfathomable. Don't they understand that something like this is actually free advertising for their product.

I do the same knotty, if in doubt I run through some scales, arps and some drills I learned. Don't have a melody as such as I'm just improvising ii-V-I's. After a few notes I normally hear something and then it goes from there. It's amazing sometimes how little it takes to make a melody.

I'm doing my best to watch Dave's masterclasses quick - in case any others get pulled. Just watched the Dick Hyman one today, and it answered some questions for me. He's really amazing.

Custard - did you get the DVD/CD? What's it like?

Anyone - what is the Chopin he plays toward the end? I haven't played Chopin for a long time but that tune inspires me.

So true.
I'm intrigued to know the removal process. Do the record companies do an automatic sweep based on a keyword search ? Is there no employee or agent of the record company looking at the context or applying common sense ?

If you have time I'd really appreciate if you would check my G maj progression.

Hey Cus,

you're going all out with those voicings huh ?
The 2nd Gmaj needs a maj7, not minor. So F#
Also, I don't think the next to last really does it for me. WIth a G in the bass, I would hear it, but otherwise, I'm not sure. Anyway, I think you play a 5th anyway, so maybe just a typo.

that's my understanding of the situation at the moment. It is being uploaded today without the words "Lennie Tristano", "Bennie Tristano" or "Freddy Obamo" in the titles and tags, and hopefully it should stay up.

As Einstein said "ay carumba"

I wouldn't bet on it.
I believe youtube uses spectrum analysis to recognize tunes. Quickly, you should see in the descriptions "Contains tracks from" and then links to amazon to buy the tracks.
Worth a shot, but I don't really think it will work.

knotty is right. Knotty is always right:) It was flagged again from the audio. Does anyone know of another video site that I can find a home with for the time being? I'm gonna play lead trombone in the Occupy Wall Street Marching Band and take the whole group to the offices of Sony.
