Purchasing a rebuilt piano

I have done quite a bit of research (Larry Fine's Book, various forum threads etc.), visited several dealers of both new and rebuilt pianos. I have narrowed my selection down to either a Mason & Hamlin or an Estonia. I plan on visiting Lindeblad in NJ and Cunningham in PA. I have already visited Faust Harrison in NY. If I do decide to purchase a rebuilt M&H piano, is it customary to negotiate the price? I know new pianos have some play built in. Also, if anyone has comments on the 3 companies that I have mentioned I would appreciate it! CL

You should definately visit Cunningham's in Philadelphia. I've toured their facility myself and was VERY impressed with the quality of work in their rebuilding shop (factory, really). The showroom has a wonderful variety of new and used pianos. As you know, they sell new Estonias and Mason and Hamlins. If they ever fire that Galassini guy, they'll really have a first class operation. :p No kidding, check them out! All the best, Cathy

Thanks for those repsonses! If I were to purchase a piano from Cunningham, do you recommend having a technician checking it out? And, if so, can anyone reccomend someone in that area??
