Aimee, yes I did get that loan harpsichord. Right now, though, that room is in total turmoil, as I'm decorating. Without taking all the stuff out. Ceiling (11.5 feet high), plaster moulding, top section of wall, picture rail, main wall, and the skirting is almost 12 inches high, plus there's a whole wall of bookshelves to paint, and the floor (infill board gaps with wood wedges, then paint, once I've ripped out old carpet and underlay, in sections). Thankfully the big bay of 8 windows is already done (by someone else). So far I've just taken the old paper off one wall and lined it and painted it x4, and I'm currently working on the top wall section above the bookcase wall.

I hesitate to post the following, but here goes: Abdullah Ibrahim, with Ishmael. He was also known as Dollar Brand. Perhaps the greatest musician to come out of South Africa. I fell in love with this in my formative years (1980-ish). I later found out he'd made an album called African Space Program; what an amazing title for an album, for all kinds of reasons.

Good morning everyone. I wasnt planning to post until I saw Eglantine's post. Eglantine, I'm sure glad you posted Abdullah Ibrahim. I've been trying to find time to learn more about him. One of my friends who is a guitarist suggested one of his pieces. I've been holding back because I wanted more time to explore it.what can you you tell me about the Abdullah Ibrahim Trio?

Here is what I've been holding for the right time...which is now. Here is "Blue Bolero"

I have to get to an early meeting so I will have to catch up later. Since I'm not much of a morning person I'll post an oldie from my college days to get us moving! Here are the Spinners with "Working My Way Back to You."

Have a good day everyone!

What a lovely pair of pieces, Griffin. I didn't know the Bolero.

I'm afraid I don't know much about Abdullah Ibrahim, other than his name change, and the fact that he's done all kinds of styles.

It is possible that you may have wondered where old Rossy was?

Well I have been busy these past two days putting a video together to post on pianists corner, where it will either get ignored entirely, or ignored completely, but I went to the effort because I felt so strongly about the love of piano, and all things piano.

And hurt for those with lack of piano, that have big love for piano.

It started with this of course....

I asked Rupak to send me the midi file which he had to make, he did and more info...
hes a cool dude...

So I did a little CSI on his behalf.... here are my findings..
Rostosky reviews the evidence...

Good morning!

Excellent CSI Rossy! I loved the whole lighting of the smoke! I quit May of last year and man did that sound good to me! LOL Very neat, though. I didn't know anything about midi at all so that was very educational too. smile

Thanks BeccaBb much appreciated, I advocate smoking for nerves, for relaxation, and for general maladies of the non specific kind.
if you ever need any help in reversing the quit, just ask, I am allways willing to help folk start smoking again, even after many many years of them self torturing themslves with abstinence.
we are only here in this life once, we could die any day from a multitude of causes that are just waiting to get us.
why worry.

nah not creepy, have you ever tried sucking the smoke juice out of folks clothes? this is a good way to get extra nicotine from heavy smokers for free.
I used to suck my grandads cap when I was little, he only took it off at bedtime, I used to wait till he was asleep, and go and have a suck on the smoked stained old cranium cover.
EEE lass it were tough in yorkshire on moors.

Did you catch the christmas posts she did? she admitted that she just cannot wait till christmas morn, and bugs BillyO till she gets to look at her pressies, She is soooooo bad at patience and waiting!!
this last week will have nearly killed her!!!! LOL.
She will have been counting down the days, and getting tenser and tenser...

Come on AimeeO where is it?

I bet like when she was a kid it was " are we nearly there yet mum?" lol.
I want a micro pig personally,

I would love it and cuddle it and take it for walks, and give it food and stuff.
I would call it nicodemus and make a collar for it .
when it got fat,
I would eat it all up in a micro pig sized bacon sarnie.

While we are waiting for AimeeO pics....

Yesterday I had the three missing strings on my piano replaced...
[Linked Image]

And my awesome-man-I-like-this-guy-tuner lent me his tool to help me regulate my keys, so I pulled out the action to clean behind it first and when I tried to reinstall it.. well... I snapped off a hammer head.. frown

Luckily I only kinda injured myself (just severe muscle sprain) and my tuner will be here tomorrow. Tuners to the rescue! The lesson of the day: always get help when moving heavy, delicate and awkard to move piano parts!
