Hi Everyone, I am fairly new to this forum. In the past, I was interested in the Schimmel NWS, but was out of luck in finding one here in the states. Recently, I played Steingraeber Sohne 205 and as expected fell in love. Now, I'm hooked on the Steingraebers. But, as luck will have it, I'm having a hard time finding one. I don't have the budget for a brand new one but one that is at most 5-8 years old. What are your suggests in going about finding a Steingraeber 205 or even a 212?

Brian Gatchell sells them. He is in Melbourne, FL. I believe he has one in his own home. I've been in his store and spoken to him. Great guy!

It sounds like you fall in love easily. smile

If you are scouring the earth for the truly rare, you might wish to round out your experiences with a handful of other greats. I don't know what your expectations or budget is now, but unless yours has gone up from January, I think you are still wishful thinking.

If I'm wrong, hop on a plane and check out the ones plover listed. Good luck!

Where's newgeneration when you need him?

Unfortunately there are none in Texas that I know of as I'd love to try one.

Fandrich & Sons, Grand Piano Haus, PianoCraft, Atlantic Music Center. There are probably others, but these are the ones I know of.

There are a fair number of dealerships in the U.S. Check with the Steingraeber factory and get a full list of the representatives. Contact those dealers and and ask if they have any used instruments on the floor. It's hard to find this piano on Craigslist or some other similar sales medium. There is a better chance at a dealer as a previous owner may have traded in for a longer instrument.

Where are you located? That info would be helpful.

Spectacular Pianos! There is a dealership near me and I love to go play them.

There are actually very, very few Steingraeber dealers in the United States.

7, I believe if I am correct - including the distributor Brian Gatchell of Atlantic Music in FL

See my post above.

If you are serious that is.

I love my Steingraeber, but I agree with Sam Bennett -- anyone willing to buy at that level owes it to himself/herself to try everything at or near that price point. In fact, that's true for pianos in every price range.

There are lots of different and wonderful pianos. What distinguishes them to a buyer is much less qualitative differences between the instruments than the individual preferences of the buyer regarding touch and sound.

Hey guys

I believe that R. Kassman in Berkley, Ca. is also a dealer. I noticed you live in Los Angeles, so thats close enough to make a day of it. I have played a few Steingraebers that he has prepped and it is truly a work of art.

Give him a call. (510) 558-0765

Kassman has an amazing selection of Steingraebers.

In fact from what I learned when at factory is that he's one of those regularly picking the very best for himself...

Regarding where to find Steingraeber pianos in the US:

On the East coast there are three dealers.

1. For the North East: Allegro Pianos (NY and CT showrooms).

2. For the Mid Atlantic: Piano Craft (MD showroom).

3.For the South East: Atlantic Music (FL showroom).

Here at Allegro Pianos we have a good selection of Steingraeber pianos including the model 212.
The model 205 had been out of production for almost 4 years now.

Maybe it's like Lake Woebegone. All of the Steingraebers are above average.
