What are the forums recommendations for a good Scriabin Piano Sonata complete edition? I am looking at Barenreiter? But I want something with good fingering.

I've been reading through Henle's edition of Sonata 10, and the fingering is *very* helpful.

But that doesn't answer your question exactly, because it looks like they only currently publish sonatas 5-10, each sold separately.

I currently own three editions of the sonatas: MCA, Leeds, and Dover (sick). MCA and Leeds are phenomenal editions, but both do lack fingerings. The Henle's do have many fingering suggestions, but they do not offer the sonatas as a complete set.

One possibility that people sometimes don't remember is that they may be able to borrow editions from their library, using interlibrary loans if needed, to see which one best suits their needs before they commit to buying one.

I would highly recommend the edition edited by Harold Sheldon, but it might be out of print. The Dover, while very affordable, is a Russian reprint that unfortunately has quite a few annoying errors throughout.

I can send you PDFs of all 10 of them. They're in 10 separate files but look to be from the same editor. They have fingerings though I can't say if they're any good, I've never played any of these. It looks clear and easy to read, very well-printed, and with editor's notes in German, French, and English. If you want I'll just zip em up and put em on mediafire.

I believe it is, but you can always find a used copy if you look hard enough. Here's a link to an MCA (Edited by Sheldon) edition: Link. It's great, but it lacks fingering in many of the tricky passages. If you are concerned about fingering, you might want to look through a couple of public domain editions for suggestions.

I love all the different transliterations of Scriabin's name.

Scriabin
Skriabin
Scriabine
Scriábine
Skrjabin

I went to the Henle website to see what I could see, and it turns out they also have published 2-3. They have a "Look inside" feature for some of the sonatas that allows a look at the entire score - pretty nice.
