By the way, Steinway made these in very limited numbers and the marble piano was one of their Art Grand line up. When this piano was new it was verrrry expensive. See it here: Marble Piano Does this change the way you might be thinking about this piano at all? Just curious.

If you want to waste some time look at the other Art Case pianos available on the Steinway site. There's some terrific whorehouse pianos there....

I know how a piano sounds on a marble floor and it is not good. How can this instrument be any different. You said 'faux'...is it wood -refinished? If it is I still find it a psychological road-block....we need the wood....I love black...and high gloss better than satin.

rada Rada, I am sorry I wasn't more specific. This is a lacquer finish with many colors and layers on top of a normal production piano case. It is wood. It is not actually marble and the piano does not know any difference between this finish and an ebony finish.

Hi Rick, I didn't think it was made of REAL marble but I had played a pinao once in Houston that was Stainless Steel....I don't think it was called a DeLorean.

A couple of beautiful designs but most of them are rather frightening to look at. I hadn't realised Steinway was so adventurous with their designs.

Faux Marble..... mmmmm not for me....
Actually I don´t like anything faux.
If I can afford a Timex watch, I'll try to have a nice Timex watch. If I can afford a Rolex, then I'll do the same. But buying a faux Rolex. mmmm I hate people that does that. Or do that to a car. Buy one and modify it to look like another one, such as Mercedes.
If the piano is made of wood, I want it to look like a very nice wood, not something else.
My thoughts.

It would be a great piano for "classic rock" music.

My thoughts. Are you aware that ebony pianos are not made of ebony? Some black pianos - Not even a wood finish? **** But some of you guys really made me groan (with a smile) this morning!!!
