Some sleeping pianos have been brought back to life in public places recently. First was the charity shop Broadwood grand which has seen much better days, then the music shop keyboards and finally a rather nice piano in a large old house which is open to the public. Even though the sounds produced were not always good, people always seemed pleased by this, and the sound seems to animate (or clear!) the space. I feel like a campaign of 'hit and run' piano playing!

Hearing how much preparation others are doing on their met pieces encourages me to work on mine, and I'm really glad that a group of us are working on these pieces together. It makes me push myself a bit. I'll get advice on how to play met 3 in the next few days, and record another duet with my dad for fun.

"The Piano in question is not a steinway, it is of a higher calibre altogether.

NO guessing on this thread, pm me instead with your educated guesses.

excellent Richard, excellent! But you actually missed it by what looks like a hairs breadth, you stopped at the "B's" and went straight to the "w's"........

Now if you had done the "C" list, I would have said "Its in there"

Furthermore just to throw in a factual but probably useless clue,

If you had said "Has the Polish Pianist Pederewski ever played that particular piano itself that you hope to do some justice to met4 on,

Then I would have to say... you got it....

Greetings everyone! I am taking a vacation/holiday today because we are entertaining visitors, and I'll have to postpone classical music postings. Sorry!

Btw, I'm lousy with guessing games. It will be interesting to find out the correct answer to Rossy's clue. Enjoy the rest of your day! Back to house cleaning for me!

Hi folks!
I hope you've enjoyed your well- deserved day out Griffin. Richard thanks for stepping 'into the breach'. Just as I was winding down for the day I was wound up all over again with your invigorating post of Glinka and Rossini!

I wonder if there is such a thing as a website which can put people looking for a piano in touch with those who are trying to get rid of one (assuming they're not beyond saving - the pianos that is). A win win solution, and worth doing I think. Yes Wayne, I find abandoned pianos interesting, and a sad end for something which has given service and pleasure to players and listeners - maybe even for decades. How's met 2 coming along?

If I may be so bold, AimeeO, I like the way you feel.

What's better than a good guitar solo? A two guitar, er, solo.

Have been listening to Steely Dan on the train to work this week. Check out the guitar part at 2:30 for inventiveness - Skunk Baxter

ZRTF90 - I used to cover Throw Down The Sword, Blowin Free and a few others in the 70s.

We did Reelin' In the Years, Newman. I spent an age getting the riff right in E then our singer decided he wanted it in D. Didn't I laugh when I realised it was twice as easy!

I've had an uncomfortable day. I need a blues fix...
