Well, as an entry-level instrument for those who don't want to afford a P-105 it makes sense. The question is how it will sound and play of course smile

Other than the 32 note poly, it sounded decent and seems to have the same speaker specs as the 95

Seems to be targeted to compete with the Casios below the PX130 level.

Indeed. I wonder where it's manufactured?

Seems to be the NP31 electronics in the P95 form factor (88 key GHS). So it would be an 88 cheaper than the P105. And ironically, better in one respect, in that it still has standard MIDI jacks like the NP31 and P95, and the P105 only has USB.

I think you meant GHS, not GH. The thing might be interesting as a cheap and fairly lightweight Midi controller (actually more or less like the P95 in this respect).

Shigeru Kawai SK-2, etc.

Yes, fixed, thanks.

Yes, and cheaper and lighter than the P95. I'm glad to see it. Otherwise, once the P95 is gone, the Korg SP170 would be the only option for an 88-key board with standard MIDI for less than $700-$800.

Not that they've got any stock, but these people are giving a price of £356/€449/$565
I suppose that puts it in the same range as the Casio CDP machines.

Has that been their policy with the other entry-level models?

Not for Yamaha but yes for Casio and the CDP models available in the US.

It was developed as a direct px130 competitor. It's going to be everywhere at not a lot of money.

P35? Yamaha figured out how to make a slab with even less features than a P95? It truly has just 2 buttons ... power and piano! pic: http://tinyurl.com/939njj7

At least they didn't pull the Korg SP-170 trick (?) of sticking the volume control in the MIDI out in jack location!

Is it just me, or does there seem to be a real race to the bottom lately when it comes to quality portability?

I feel the same way, dewster! Whether that's a good thing or not is another question smile

There is a growing demand for ultra-cheap DPs in emerging economies.

As I always write, my GranTouch had 32 note polyphony and I never noticed any shortcomings whatsoever.

When it comes to digital pianos, just play them and make your decisions on the sound of the piano and the feel of the action.

My brother complained about dropped notes on his Yamaha P70 (32 note polyphony), but I haven't observed exactly what he's doing either.
