No worries Wisebuff - someone else had posted in the 2011 thread, (and I hadn't noticed it was the '11)..I replied, then you replied - All too easy to miss, so I asked Greg to close the other thread.

It was a group goof smile lol.

Yuki Kiki - I will look forward to those pics!

I fell off the wagon last week. Please place me on the BACK ON MOYD WAGON as of March 24th.

I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.

I'm back from my trip to Seattle and I've already gotten in my practice for the day. And I did manage some practice on the day we flew out.

I did manage to plunk a few keys on a grand piano, but it truly was a plunking of a few keys. The piano was at the place where the wedding we went to was held. It was scrunched into a corner, with the keyboard facing the wall--probably to discourage people like me from having any fun with it. Oh well. Feels good to be back at the keyboard.

This is my first year signed up for MOYD -- I first took up piano too late last year to join.

I'm not sure what my posting responsibilities are, but the year is going well so far. I have practiced every day this year with two categories of exceptions.

First, I do travel a fair bit on business, and often there is no piano available. So I do miss the business travel days.

The second category has turned out to be less a problem than I thought. My first instrument (at least before taking up piano) has me committed to a gig with a light opera pit orchestra for several productions a year, and in the week before we open (known to the company as {something like} "heck week"), we all convene at the theater after work from about 6:30 to midnight for dress rehearsals, then later in the week, preview performances and finally the opening shows.

I had thought that I wouldn't do any piano practicing at all during "heck week," but even committed to these 18-hour days, I found that I spent 15-30 minutes at the piano almost every morning before heading to the office (and from there to the theater).

This is kind of a beautiful addiction, isn't it?

I agree it is a beautiful addiction smile

Your posting responsibilities are to ask to be put on the excused list when you are sick or travelling.
If you miss for any other reason, you should 'fess up, that you've "fallen off the wagon" and get put on the "back on the wagon" list.

I'll just put you on excused with "various dates" for now ok?

I'd like to join in the fun. I currently don't practice every day but know I should and am able. Maybe this little outside motivation will get me "on track" :-D

OK, the right thread! I have to go on the excused list for a week. We're staying with my sister-in-law and no piano. I am trying to memorize some weaker sections though!

  • Debussy - Le Petit Nègre, L. 114
  • Haydn - Sonata in Gm, Hob. XVI/44

That's a useful way to work on your music while you're away - but frown no piano for a week. That's sad.

Hi casinitaly, I don't see my excused dates Mar. 26 to Mar. 29 on the excused list yet. Did you get them? I was away at a conference.

Made it every day through February and March. Even on days when I'm tired and think I'll play 15 minutes or so - most of the time it ends up being 30 to 45 minutes.
At this rate maybe I will make it to Alfreds' Level 2 in 2012!

I had to miss March 30, 31, and April 1 due to an unexpected trip out of town to visit my ill mother-in-law. Back at it today.

Thanks, Cheryl. It's all very uncertain with my mother-in-law, so we're in a constant "get ready to travel" mode now.

Ah, we went through that in Dec/Jan - that's a lot of emotional stress to be carrying. My best wishes to you and yours at this time.
