There is a grand piano at work.
Its got a dead low C and E due to snapped strings when I lift the lid. But its free to use and the lowest octave I've never really used anyway. It is also very worn as the keys are pretty wobbly like a loose tooth.
I go in early to have a play. As I always get into work about 30 minutes early also I carry emergency sheet music just for such an occassion
The thing is there was a thread recently about playing well at home and then mushing things up when you play in front of your teacher.

The piano is located in a staff canteen seating area and in an hour about 5-15 people use the canteen upstairs seating area where it is located to take a short cut. (its how I discovered it).
Some of them even stop and listen for a moment. I get all self-conscious and fluff things now and again. As playing by yourself is completely different to playing with an audience.
Susprisingly though I've found it easier to cover up my mistakes on this grand piano maybe because it might be very slightly out of tune.
Is this non private practice good practice? Considering the fact the touch of the keys is completely different to my home DP and my teachers upright piano as well. It also sounds different as well depending on if I lift the lid.
Or is a piano a piano?
