Hello everyone. I just returned from a two week trip to visit family in the US, so I need to go on the excused list from August 29-September 11th. While I was there I did play around a little everyday with an unweighted, short Casio keyboard. Boy, did that feel strange. It was kind of fun playing around with all the other voices though. I don't think I could call it practice though!

If you got to the keyboard every day, you were playing piano every day (yes, digital unweighted short keyboards count too!).... the point isn't to "practice" every day, but to either practice or play every day. The amount of time, or what you do is totally up to you!! You don't have to go on the excused list. oh.. btw.... Welcome back!

Well, I missed a couple of days of practice-no good reason-just got busy and before I knew it two days had passed! I'll climb back on the wagon and try to keep my focus.

I had a bad week at the piano. I guess you could say it's excused, since my left wrist is bothering me, and I can't play both hands right now. The other time this happened, I had some things to work out on my right hand, so I carried on practicing, but I didn't have any priced at that stage right now.
I almost cancelled my lesson, but then I decided the way forward was to do some right hand work with my teacher. I took my scales, cadences and arpeggios book and we worked on that for awhile, which was good because we talked a bit about theory, something we hardly ever do. Also, she worked on relieving tension as I played, so I won't get my right hand in trouble, too. (My teacher's English is excellent, but I think she struggles to describe technique type things in detail in English) Then we worked on the rest of the RH fingering for Erster Verlust.
I'm really happy that I went. Now I have plenty to be getting on with while my wrist is recovering.

Could you add me to the MOYD list? (I'm getting in just under the wire!) Thank you.

Well, I stopped by to confess that I fell off the wagon weeks and weeks ago and to bow out of MYOD ... but it looks like it's not to late to stay in?? Thank goodness! Count me in again, then, please.

Hiya! I'm going home for a funeral today and won't be back till Sunday. I'm bringing a kids toy keyboard with me to try to practice fingering on, but I may not have time while I'm down there. When I get back I'll let you know if I need to be excused for a day or two. Have a good weekend everyone and keep up the flying fingers!

You're back on the wagon Deb!
*thump* Darn. I missed four days this week. I didn't play Wednesday or Thursday because I was very tired from a rough work schedule, plus my piano was so out-of-tune I couldn't bear to hear it. (Really. It was that bad.) I had a tuning scheduled for Friday, anyway, so I thought a couple lost days wouldn't be bad. And then I had a major car problem Friday afternoon and couldn't be home for my tech. Rescheduled for today, and finally, it's all done! Dampp-Chaser installed last week, tuning this morning, the instrument sounds fantastic, and ... well, no more excuses for me! *scrambling back on the wagon*

Hi Cas, I'm back. I need to be excused for Sat, and Sun. Between the trip and being sick I had no chance to get near keys. Uck.
Glad I'm home!

Hi Cas. I need to be excused (again) for yesterday and the day before. I have a lovely case of "nu-moan-ya" and haven't managed to do much of anything other than sleep or hack my lungs out. I will try to work a bit at the keys today.

Thanks Cas! and me too! I've never had this before and it's nasty. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!

Thanks Cas! and me too! I've never had this before and it's nasty. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy! My hubby has had it twice!! Second time round I had to give him injections at home every morning - that was stressful for both of us...and I'm not sure who felt worse about it! Get well soon,

I was away on a business trip with no piano on 9/30 and 10/1.
I've had five other days recently where I missed playing, the most recent one being 10/3. Back on the wagon as of last night 10/4.

I'm off again, been off for at least 3 weeks maybe longer. There's been some playing but not anywhere near daily. I've been trying to get back at it and have actually managed to forget parts of things. I think I'm going to continue to slack off a bit so I'm off the list for this year.

I think we all have periods where we feel less up to maintaining daily practice/playing. Sometimes MOYD is an incentive, sometimes the opposite. Hope you find your groove soon, whatever it may be!

Hi I'm off to my business trip to UK tonight. I won't be back until next Saturday night. Although I may have access to a piano, I doubt if I can practice. I have meetings back to back and I presume having to go out to eat with the folks I work with. So please excuse me for 7 days. Thanks
