Thanks to everyone on this forum who listened to my shopping stories. If it weren't for Larry Fine's book and this community god only knows what I might have wound up with.

So the story is that a local dealer (Steve Lacefield) found an 8 year-old C6 from some other dealer out of state and brought it in on his dime for me to play. I liked the sound but not the action so he mentioned the name of a local tech (Tom Kaplan) who he thought could come check it out. Tom had a pretty impressive resume and after maybe 15 minutes of tearing into the piano showed how regulation would improve it. At that point I basically ran out of reasons not to buy it.

Steve just kept saying yes to everything I asked for. He said he would pay for Tom to spend a day regulating and voicing the instrument. Gave me a break on the price I asked for due to taxes. Threw in a decent bench. Total out-the-door price: right at $25,000, so purchase price was like $23.5k. More that I was looking to spend but a better deal than I thought I'd get on a C6 this new and in such good condition.

The big downside is that I will not have an excuse for sucking so bad at my lessons anymore. Yes, I will post pictures when it is delivered next week if anyone wants to see them.

Congratulations!

It's been a long and bumpy road.

Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!

Congrats! Sounds like a nice find and you should look forward to a good relationship with your dealer and tech. Next step is pictures.

Can I just say, that's one of my favourite models of piano ever made. It is comparable in quality to the Steinway B, and a well prepared one is one of the best recital pianos available. You are so luck and you will absolutely love the piano.

Even if it needed action work or the odd string replaced etc, it's not a problem, it's a beautifully designed piano and you have something that will serve you well for years to come.

I am jealous! I wish I could come over and play it!

Congratulations jawhitti !

I just read one of your previous threads - Is the yamaha C6 an unusual piano?

Interesting read including the responses/photos you had from Chris Venables.
From all I've read about your make/model of piano it sounds like you have a beauty!

Best wishes on the wait and delivery.
And then enjoy !!

Great result jawhitti! Sounds like you also have a decent tech to keep it well maintained too.

Best wishes.

The Lacefield group is just an awesom group of people. They are always energetic and full of laughter. They know how to live life.

You did good and you did it with good business people.

congrats.
