Hi Cheryl,
Been away again. This time Woodinville, WA for my nephew's wedding, and then out in the Cascades in the middle of nowhere. Got to the bench at my sister's place one day (a beautiful 1906 Steinway grand) and the next at the rehearsal dinner venue (a not so hot Hallet and Somethingorother). Unfortunately, that leaves July 22nd, 23rd, and 24th out in the woods. Please ding me appropriately.
Hope you are having a good Summer,
Jim

Casinitaly, The compromise works perfectly for me, I appreciate it. Now, that we both are going to practicing every day it will be exciting to see the what comes of it, hopefully we can get to the cool pieces for piano and violin much faster as there are so many amazing ones. Thanks again!

Hello everyone! Long time no see (or hisashiburi desu, as they say in Japan). I'm had an absolutely insane month or so. I've been trying to practice every day, and have mostly succeeded, but have had probably 4 days where I didn't accomplish that. Anyway, just wanted to say hello, and fess up to missing a few days.

Please put me down as "off line" from July 21st to 31st. Had a rare opportunity to take a few days off work and took advantage before it disappeared. Returned home from travel last night and dear husband lol'd when I threw down the suitcase and sat at my piano to play even before noticing him.

I was off the wagon for a day this past Sunday. No real good reason really, just realized before bed that I hadn't played anything and instead of going back to the living room I decided to just go to bed. I suppose I could blame it on a stressful week and the "whatever like it matters" attitude I developed by then.

I'm away at a conference today through Saturday. Mark me as off the wagon today; I had time to sit at the piano before leaving for the airport, but didn't think to do so.

hi
I have to report that I have only been at the piano for a very few minutes at a time since May1
I had a medical procedure done and it went all wrong as in ceased to breathe.
I have spent all this time recovering. But I did try when I could. I simply was not able to sit there or anywhere for that matter.
This past week they did it again. This time it went better although I'm very fatigued but carrying on anyway. So I'm back in the saddle so to speak.

pg2, how frightful! Glad to hear you're recovering.
casinitaly, mark me as off the wagon Sunday, August 6. I got back from my trip after a 2 1/2 hour flight delay sitting on the tarmac, and immediately turned into a couch potato in front of the Olympics. I'm back on now.

Off the wagon again on Thu. Aug. 9. Got home too late and didn't want to wake up my guest. Hoping to be back on the wagon today. Feeling discouraged in my lessons and not really wanting to practice.

pg2, welcome back!
Today and yesterday were effectively "no practice" days for me -- out of town at business meetings till all hours. I DID get a few minutes at a poor hotel piano yesterday, and a minute or two at a piano store this afternoon. Not really practicing, though. Can't wait to get home to my own piano tomorrow night!
Otherwise still on track for the year.
Cheers to all.
P.s. -- Did get back to the hotel piano after a business dinner and played scales and memorized tunes for about a half hour or more, so today wasn't a total waste. Don't you hate it when work interferes with your piano playing?

I'm going to be away for some days this coming week. I'll let you know exactly which ones when I get back. I'm planning to at least practice on the day I leave and the day I come back, unlike the last trip I took!

Hi Cheryl, I came here to confess that I did not practice Thursday night. It was my fault due to poor management of my time. I am holding out my hands so that you can pop them with a ruler or something Jason

Hey Cheryl,
I need to be excused for today. I just got through working a nearly 16 hour day. I am dog tired. Gotta go to bed and get back up to go to work again in about 6.5 hrs.

I just started reading this thread last Sunday and thought it was a great idea. I've been making sure to get at least 10 min a day in. Where as before if I couldn't sit down and actually practice for a while I'd put it off. Already seeing a difference Don't know if it's too late to officially join, but just thought I'd chime in cause I think it's great!

I got back a day later than I expected. So mark me down as no playing due to travel for 8/27-8/30.

I had such a horrible time @ my lesson this past Thursday - absolutely NO communication between brain & fingers - that I came home feeling totally hopeless & not ever wanting to go near my piano again. But, OTOH, I didn't want to screw up my perfect daily practice record ... So, yesterday, MOYD got me to the piano in the morning to play a lot of Hanon & a couple of scales. By late afternoon, I attempted 2 or 3 really easy pieces that, as it turns out, I can still play reasonably well. I'm not quite ready to return to the 2 teacher-assigned pieces that I botched so badly on Thursday... maybe later today or tomorrow. But I think, thanks to MOYD, the crisis has passed.

Amanda, cut-off day for sign-up is 30 Sept, so no worries, you are "in" Welcome. Pianostudent88 - done! Carol - yipee! It is great that MOYD was such a great help to you! We all have days where we question our abilities, the important thing is to get past the questioning and on with the playing, as you did!
