@xhappyrabbitx,
No need to worry now as you will soon have one of the very best flagship Kawai's available, in the CA95... with the best technology par excellence...

I'd already used up all my sneakyness yesterday by leaving work 2 hours early to go sit at the keys.. they phoned me on the way home and I was in a good mood... may have lost out on a money saving opportunity their!
Hope you get down to play them.... if you hate the ca95 keep it to yourself, I'm not changing my order haha ;-)

It's turned up, have my 3 year old daughter all weekend though so won't get a good go on it till tomorrow evening.... initial thoughts are pointless as I haven't had any peace... and it's not at my house as were moving back to the home farm... so we installed it there. Will update when I've had a few hours to myself:-)

After 3 hours these are my opinions:
Build: solid, good looking... when it turned up there are a couple of issues...
Key bed not uniform gaps between keys. Kawaijames, in another thread covered this as being due to the keys not clipped in like plastic keys and to be honest i'll only kick up a fuss if any start to rub... which they do not at the moment.
Either side of the key bed there is two small sections of wood that have shoddy finish... there only an inch long and because there mirrored i presume its just a minor manufacturing fault. Its very minor, i'm picky.
A couple of the black keys have scuff marks down the sides, permanent.
So the finish isnt perfect, i'm not going to make grief as its been 3 weeks to get the thing and there very minor aesthetic blemishes.... Still... at £2610 I expected quality control to be better. (if Kawai want to send me a piano stool to make up for this i'll be most happy... as it didnt come with one. )
Playing experience: I changed my opinion in the three hours considerably. Turning off the reverb improved the sound, concert grand is actually my prefered mode at the moment... The sound has grown on me considerably and has brought me back to memory's of my grand. The string resonance and quality of sampling is really lovely. I left tonight wanting to play more. The feel and feedback is very rewarding, the soundboard (given enough volume) fed back vibrations to my fingers and my feet(no shoes). Touch is very pleasing indeed,it'll take more than my experience so far to appreciate it fully but i am happy. Trills are consistent,f and p so that third sensor may well be making a positive difference, i certainly cant criticise the control so far.
Thats about it for now... Disapointed with the marks on the keys mainly but the piano is so far making me a happy bunny. Dont really care about the other functions or sounds so wont bother commenting on them.
Paul

Hello Paul,
Thank you for posting your review.
While I'm not responsible for technical support, I would suggest contacting the shop and/or Kawai UK to inform them of the scuff marks on the sides of some black keys, and perhaps send some pictures too. I obviously cannot guarantee anything from this end, however it's possible that the scratched keys can be replaced under warranty.
Kind regards, James x

@xhappyrabbitx,
Sorry to hear of the minor issues you have had, although I have had a couple of things to tend to with my new CA95, as well. Just sent you a PM with a few other details.

I wonder if someone could clarify one point I wish to be clear about regarding the Kawai CA95 / CA65 models.
I believe it has been suggested that the sound engines for the CA65 and CA95 are identical so that if you are using headphones with them, you are getting the same sound with each and the soundboard in the CA95 has no effect whatsoever with the sound.
It makes sense that this would be the case. I just want confirmation that it is, in fact, the unqualified truth.

Yes, that is the case and the Let-Off is the same for both as well.
However, the amplifier sections are different but should not be at all noticeable wit headphones.

With reference to the keyboard, 12 black keys have the scratch pattern on plus one black key has a permanent mark on and there are 4 slightly bigger gaps between the white keys. Dawson's requested pics to send to kawai... just sent them so it'll be interesting the timescale of sorting this.... new keybed I will be assuming, better than a technical fault though as I still get to play :-)

German PianoWorld user might want to read my review about CA95 in the magazine "OKEY" (issue #110) http://okey-online.deI was very impressed by the key action and the piano sound. ... but KAWAI should re-think organizing the sounds in the sound-menu and spelling of rhythms. maybe they can fix the mistakes with a firmware update...

My German isn't terribly good (the automatic Google Translation in Chrome did not work correctly...), and try as I might, I was unable to find the review. I'm interested to read your comments about the sound organisation as to my knowledge, this has never been a criticism of the CA range. Many thanks, James x

So he/she has come on here to sell a magazine by stirring up bogus criticisms of the piano. Great.

I wonder if this DP grand feel action could be superior to upright acoustic pianos action in 3000-4000 euro budget? I mean if getting ca95 could be equivalent or better for practice ,playing expression,precision then let's say restored acoustic yamaha U1 or similar kawai acoustic upright model.
