Hi Chris
Thanks for your cool advice throughout the year.

Hi Dave Ferris
Thanks for your beautiful arrangement of O Come All Ye Faithful. Your chord choice was very nice especially the measure in the last line where you descend by semitone from the diminished.

Happy Holidays. I declined a New Year's eve gig. I didn't feel like a real musician if I didn't have a NY gig so it was good to have something to refuse. smile

But I hit the ground running in January with gigs almost every week.

Getting ready with my new Red board that was born in Chris' and Klink's neck of the woods.

I turned down a bar the 31st also. Having a party instead!
Have a couple of new exciting places that might come up this year. We'll see.

What about you? Excited to play with the new board? Any new place?

I'm the house pianist at a weekly jam in a bar tonight. I'm going to try a lighter weight approach myself. Maybe go back to the Roland amp.

Yes I'm doing some new venues in January but just 1 shot events. I'm also talking to another venue that might be a regular monthly thing. If I get that, then I might be maxed out. That'll be 4-5 a month.

House pianist - nice deal thumb

Our Jam doesn't have a house pianist. Just a house bassist and drummer. There's too many pianists. But I'm the goto pianist for difficult tunes. Some of the others stick to really basic tunes (Blues, Autumn Leaves, Bossa).

>>Yes I'm doing some new venues in January but just 1 shot events
These are my absolute favorite things to do. That's where you meet all the cool people, and folks always give you great reviews. It feels very personal.
Bars are more lively, but people are always drunk and, it gets repetitive.

>>That'll be 4-5 a month.
That's nice. Weekly at the same place, you might start hating it after a while. Depends on character I guess.

>> House pianist - nice deal
Kind of. I'm doing it because I took the day off, and I expect little traffic. I'm also going lightweight. It's not paid, but it's kind of nice and I get to play loud without bothering the kids, so... Plus the kids are having a "sleep over" (yes, it's that period of my life). So I might as well be gone 6-11. Know what I mean?

>>There's too many pianists.
Almost any jam you go to here, no pianist ever sits in. Mostly drummers, and a bunch of horns.

So it's funny, any time I step in to one of those places, someone will recognize me and say "Hey, he can use a break!".

Oh no. Jazzers seem to be dying off pretty fast at the moment.
I saw him play a few times and always enjoyed his approach.

Chris, nice playing on Beatrice. I like it with that vibe, slower than usual but it works really well. Great solo.

Sounds good JW.
I went back to a very basic setup yesterday. Playing the small KC-350 amp with EP sound all evening. And it sounded great. I've never played better with the DP. I remember Dave Ferris telling me I'd get sick of EP. Well I'm going to it until I do. The intro were coming out real lush, it was just overall very easy to play.

Anyway.
What do you all play on Miss Jones for the A section?

Nice stuff, Chris. Also, JW your melody lines are sounding more and more melodic. Keep up the good work!
