This is a bit of a Christmas tradition for me. The CBC used to every year play this on the radio at christmas time. It is called "The Shepherd" and is narrated by Alan Maitland. It is just an incredibley well written and narrated story. It sends chills up my spine every time I hear it. I hope everyone enjoys it and Merry Christmas.

I love this story. Alan Maitland had such a wonderful voice. I also love his reading of "The Gift of the Magi." They still play The Shepherd on CBC every year. I heard it advertised the other day but couldn't remember when they said it was playing and I missed it. Thank you!

So watching the ninth gate with johnny depp, I have seen it four times, but I like it.
The best program this morning was a doube helping of "breaking the magicians code" He has four assistanst who all have sexyfuntime outfits desigined to purposely distract you while the magician does sly things. It works and i allways love being distracted.
Also, this program has an added bonus.. I can hear kids up and down the country saying "Mum can we watch something else" and their parents saying "No, you can watch the magician taking the magic away" cos this is what he does, he takes the magicout of magic by showing you how stuff is done... perfect for christmas.....
Not as perfect as spoiling the christmas magic as Poirot though.
Anyways back to the Johnny depp ffilm., later dudes and dudettes.

Do you know something, the Space channel was running a Doctor Who marathon tonight (25th) where they are showing all the Christmas specials back-to-back. So once everyone had gone to sleep I made some hot coco and watched the "Voyage of the Dammed" special which ended at midnight precisely. And I am not afraid to admit my eyes began to water when Kylie died. She would have made such a great companion! And then I watched "The Next Doctor" Christmas Special and just about lost it at this scene.
I debated on staying up to watch the next special but it was the "End of Time" special. I just couldn't bear to watch it. Kylie dies, Christmas is over, the Doctor is so lonely, I feel like crap.

Wow Eglantine, you have solved the christmas mystery there was indeed a pattern by simplicity in the 1970's for hot pants, it was pattern no. 9487. AND there is one on ebay for sale right now!!!
i will see if i can trick mrs R into being challenged enough to buy it with girl psychology....
"I bet you couldn't make that pattern, it looks way to hard" that should do it!!
Unless Wayne buys it first...damn shouldnt have mentioned it.

Hi everyone!
I hope you all are enjoying these holydays.
Santa Claus was kind with me, and he gave me a couple of volumes of Mikrokosmos by Bartók. The first exercises are easy to play (just for my level!), but they sound pretty nice.
I’m going to take them seriously; even I’ll use the metronome. I think these exercises are going to be very helpful for me, in order to improve my poor sight-reading.

Hi Everyone! I'm just stopping by to say hello. We've just been taking it easy today. I couldn't even force myself to do a post until now. This is something I've listened to lately that is lovely and reflective. Enjoy!
Sheep May Safely Graze, by J.S. Bach - Pianist, Boris Feiner
I posted this a few nights ago. However, I want to hear it again. This will be my final post for tonight. I'll be lurking, however. Enjoy the rest of your Monday!
Good Morning everyone!! This thread has been awfully quiet. Christmas is over. However, that doesn't mean there isn't more celebrating to do.
Kwanzaa is a weeklong celebration held in the United States honoring universal African heritage and culture, observed from December 26 to January 1 each year. It features activities such as the lighting of a kinara[1] and libations, and culminates in a feast and gift giving. It was created by Ron Karenga."Happy Kwanzaa" is written and performed by DANA MANNO with special background vocals by a young ALICIA KEYS ,and CHENANA MANNO with Mark Stevens Chaka Chans brother, Animation by STOZO THE CLOWN.

AH, I am here now, on and off as is usual for festive times.... I liked the Happy Kwanzaa, I dont think we have it here .OR ( more likely) I just havent heard of the celebration before Griffin... Wonderfull, what a good idea to carry on serious festivities till the new year!!
I did cover my ears like suggested just for the "christmas jazz incident" as it has now been so named! My music postings will come a little later as young Rossy is only here for another hour before catching the ( AHEM) "sunday service" ( two per day) bus home, which he does not want to miss.! Later dudes and dudettes.

Rossy, I love Monty Python! It's too bad we don't have a Ministry of Silly Walks over here. We do have Saturday Night Live, however. I have no idea how these seasoned actors managed to pull off this skit without at least a smile. I doubt you'll be able to keep a straight face. Go ahead and try!

Excellent Griffin, and whilst we aren't on the delicate and intriging subject of Pseudo halibut, i thought a little fish slapping dance would add to the festivities...

Ah, Monty Python; one of our favourite family films is Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Every so often, we just have to watch it. My daughter pretty much knows it word for word. Here is one of my favourite scenes. We've used the line (loudly, accompanied by pounding on doors) to waken teenagers early in the morning, which we think is hilarious (not so much the teenagers)
