Hi, I have a casio LK-100 (total crap, When I play the keys sound like if I was writing on a clipper, I cant stand at it anymore, plus the central B key is broken and does not work).

I really, really need a better instrument, something that sounds like a piano, not that thing.

So, Ive been reseraching for a new keybord, and I think Im going with the Yamaha NP-31, however, Ive read that the keys are bad to the touch, are they really that bad?, I can only compare with my casio Lk- 100

Are they worst than that?

Also if my keyboard wasnt broken, Would it be wort the upgrade?

Ive also seen the yamaha - NP V60

Is the only difference the extra tones adn voices it has?

Or are the sounds better than the yamaha Np-31?
Are the keys of the NP V60 better than the NP- 31?

I the NP-V60 really worth the extra 60 dollars?

Sorry for my bad english, I hope you could understand everything
Thanks!

I've not used a LK-100 so cannot compare. Also you don't say what you want.

I've played both the NP-31 and NPV60. The action is not a hammer action, but spring loaded, synth like, with short keys (edge to pivot). Almost like a toy IMHO. Sounds are weak, also artificial in tone.

The only thing going for them IMHO is they are small, light, and price. For not much more you can get P35, PX135, now PX150. In the similar 'synth like action' range I would go for a Yamaha PSR xxx instead. It really does depend on your goals.

The piano sound in the NP-30 (which I think is the same as the NP-31) was far better than the piano sound in the NP-V60. The actions are similar, the V60 has some other nice sounds, but for piano, I'd choose the 30/31.

I don't know the LK-100, but these Yamahas, while by no means piano action boards, are less bad for playing piano than most other low-cost unweighted actions are. Though for piano, of course, you'd still be better off stretching to something with a weighted action if possible.

Hi, thanks for your answers, I want to use my keyboard, just to play, and learn piano. Im not geting the hammer weighted keys becouse they are way too expensive. Probably in a few years.

I think Im goin with the NP-31.
Thanks for your advice.

You won't be able to learn proper playing technique on a non weighted keyboard. If all you want to do is play for kicks, these are OK, but not for learning how to actually play a piano. In the end, you will end up spending more by buying the unweighted board and later a weighted board. Cheapest weighted board is a Casio CDP-120. These can be bought on sale for $299.
