Roland RD-700NX System Program Version 2 INSTALLATION BLOCKED!

Hi!

It goes more than 2 hours that the installation started and the pen still is flashing and hundreds of dots keep appearing in the display of my RD-700NX! Because the expected message “complete” doesn’t show up in the display I can’t remove the pen or switch off the power from the RD-700-NX.
Does anyone know what shall I do to stop the process without damaging the RD?

Question: Did you format your USB stick beforehand? Also is there a Roland Dealer near you that could help?

Sorry I can't be of more help. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will pop in here and be able to help in the meantime!

This is why I haven't updated our NX (yet). No clear and present need to, coupled with the ever present chance of bricking it.

Did you format the thumb drive on the NX before putting the update files on it?

I’m pleased to report that I decided to run the risk and proceed with the removal of the USB pen. Then I switched off the RD and switched it on again. Apparently everything was ok, and the previous version still was there (also installed by me some months ago).

So I repeated all the process to install Version 2 and realize that a mistake I made before was to put in the pen the CONTENT of the Roland folder with the necessary files instead of the ENTIRE FOLDER as requested by the Roland instructions.

It took only a few minutes and now I have Version 2 dully installed.

Why isn't Concert Grand at No. 1?

I also had trouble loading it that was down to my error too. Good to have the extra capacity, I will listen closely to see if I can hear a difference in the "clipping" on Piano and Strings.

Oh Well, put it down to "character".
