Makes me wonder if I should trade up for an Omega at some point in time...or even the Peter Maly "Ambiente"...

I would love to see an Ambiente up close.

It really says "Flügel" doesn't it?

The Ambiente is supposed to be based on the Omega, but with a redesigned action to accomodate the slightly greater length (230cm vs 220cm). According to Alvin, this results in a completely different feel to the action. Tonally, the Ambiente, like its shorter cousin, the Vivace, is supposed to have more 'cushion' to the tone, making for a mellower sound as compared to their conventional counterpoints. That should make for interesting tonal mix, I should think.

But the Ambiente styling, while very attractive, would be hard to fit in to a typical home environment, decor-wise. \:D

Wow,

That is one of the most beautiful pianos I have seen. Just watching the cabinetry while playing must be an inspiration. Of course I already know that the Sauters are wonderful instruments(I wasn´t surprised to see them listed in Larry Fine´s top tier this time).

As I have previously argued, the upgrade in tiering was long overdue. While I can accept that the Sauter tone and action may not be to everyone's tastes, on objective measures of quality such as workmanship, Sauter ranks amongst the very best out there. As far as my eyes can tell me, only Bluthner and Fazioli, and maybe Bosendorfer would fare better in this category.

Even in terms of performance, i believe that there are a fair number out there who can accept that it is a well designed performance piano, even if the design is not their tastes.

I suppose as Sauter becomes more widely known, one might expect a greater degree of awareness (and hopefully appreciation) of what it has to offer.

That's if you can (a) actually find one to play, and (b) can wait an eternity for delivery. \:D

Anyone who is looking for a world class piano in the 7 foot + range and fails to include the Sauter Omega in their list of candidates does so at their own peril!

Unbelievable piano.

IMHO

Congratulations!

You now own one of the worlds great pianos and you have to KEEP IT TUNED! At least 4 times a year for the first couple of years, maybe forever. No, this is NOT because Sauters can't hold tune...the worlds greatest pianos (like yours) hold like rocks IF you keep them tuned.

Don't give us that "I haven't tuned it in 2 years and it still sounds great " bull. That crystalline treble will only stay that way if you tune it correctly and regularly. The sustain and tonal colors come from design, construction and TUNING!

Don't make us demand that you post scanned receipts from the tuner!
