Hey guys,

This phrase is pretty fast (tempo is 140). I can't play it right. Could you write fingering numbers on the score (using Paint or ...) ?

I had trouble with the multiple crossovers at speed. It was a little unclear for me. If it works for you, great, but if you find that hindering you, here's another alternative:

I'm not sure what I would finally do. But I'm thinking I would like to avoid crossovers too. Another variation:

131 321 45 35432 | 131 321 45 34343

I might try something else at the end of the second bar depending on what was happening next. But for now I'm thinking to move over from 4 & 5 to 3 & 4 for the trill-like alternation.

What fingering do you suggest for this left-hand part?

I can't get to a keyboard right now to try it, but this looks a bit awkward no matter what. Again, I don't think I would favor any crossovers here. I think I'd like to move my whole hand only once for each triplet. Perhaps something like:

521 321 | 521 541

My hand span is maybe a little bigger than average (not nearly as big as Rachmaninoff!), so the 3-2-1 triplet at the end of the first measure and the 4-1 Bb octave at the end of the second would be easy for me. The trick would be quickly repositioning my hand for each set of notes. Somebody may have another suggestion that might suit other hands.

With the 4 You might find it easier to use 3 first and then switch to 4 as your thumb reaches the Bb

packa, Its hard for me to play G with my 3rd finger. (it hits F# and Ab too!)

albynism, your fingering works like a charm! thanks.

packa's fingering is the one I would suggest, also. If your 3rd finger is hitting F# and/or Ab it's one of two reasons: your wrist isn't high enough coming down into the G, or your arm is settling down into the note, giving you enough time to play it. (You're brushing your third finger over the key, possibly thinking you don't have enough time to play the note, instead of actually settling into it. Common problem.. I have it all the time. Have to convince yourself you have enough time to hit the note.)

Alternatively, depending on what's going on in the right hand, you may be able to strike one or more notes with the right hand, which would change the fingering in the left.

This has been (and remains) an important issue in my playing too. Prematurely rushing to play the next note when you are moving your hand to a new position (or, as Derulux says so well, before you have "settled into it") is a common problem that can occur in many contexts beyond this one example.

Left Hand suggestion: 521 531 513 151. I wouldn't attempt to join all the notes or just use the pedal to join where required.

You can do just about anything you want with that if you have two hands to do it with. What fingerings have you tried?

I think you missed a note in there.. but no worries. As long as you're not crossing over 5-4 to play the top note, your fingering would work.

Try this:

If you don't mind moving your LH thumb:
LH:5321 RH:35421 LH:1235 (or 4)

If you prefer not to move your LH thumb:
LH:531 RH:135421 LH:1235 (or 4)

To play the thumb on the black key, move your hand in closer to the fallboard. This way, you're not twisting or stretching. Your hand should be well inside the black key area so your thumb rests comfortably on the note.
