I have a Yamaha cp33 piano arrived
and i've immediately noticed
bad thumbing of black keys in the center of the keyboard.
the thumbing occurs when the key moves back up and feels like the key thumps the case so the case vibrates.
it happens only in the middle of the keyboard.
the black keys at the edges move back silently.
to be more precise the sound itself isnt so much disturbing
but rather the hit, that shakes the keyboard.
so even if you have the sound on
you anyway fill these thumps.

it's very disturbing.
i don't know if that's a feature of that model
or the keyboard was damaged during shipping.

some comments from cp33 owners are welcome

does anybody else have it.
and what do you think, is it fixable?
can i disassemble the keyboard and try to fix?
i wish i could know how to fix it.
any tips to disassemble it?

i do know that Yamaha will stand behind the keyboard - they should fix it for you - if you have an authorized dealer in the area. If you want to try yourself you might just replace that one key - fairly easy to do - i have had my similar Yamaha apart before. You can find some videos on you tube on how to replace a key.

i shipped it to russia from US.
no warranty.
you gave a good tip to try find videos.

but i guess the problem isnt not only in the keys.
the keys moves like the rest, maybe more bounce when they return back.
that's also probably the case
which less stuffed in the middle,
so it's so light so it cant 'dump' the key movement
and shakes when the key arrives back.

I remember reading, perhaps here, that someone had a similar problem. The metal case had bent ever so lightly (I believe this was at one side or the other) and was causing this type of 'sticky' notes in a part of the registry. Perhaps yours, having been on a long journey, was bent a bit on the center, forcing some pressure to accumulate in the middle part of the keyboard.

Can you see any indications that may be true? Perhaps a small dent, or bump on the frame?

Rafa.

to rafa:

the frame seems ok.
i've checked it with a construction tool smile

there's seem small dent on the bottom (wooden particle board)
but its rather scratch than dent
and seems it was made at the factory
because there's no hole in the factory shipping box.

i guess teh problem is in cheap assembly.
i hope i'll get the service & repair manual for this model
and try to fix it myself
unless somebody will buy locally in the near future.

I returned one CP33 because of this problem. The replacement is better, but it's still thumpy and inconsistent across the keyboard.
