Good afternoon folks, Kawai Japan has recently issued a software update for the CN34 digital piano. This update (v1.05) fixes a memory issue when recording 16-track MIDI to USB, while also improving the 'Small Hall' reverb and Damper Resonance. The full changelog is listed below by category: V1.05 (September 2012)
RECORDER - Fixed: 'Memory Full" was displayed when attempting to record using the 16-track USB recorder. MENU - Fixed: "KeyActionNs." Virtual Technician setting changed to "Fallback Ns.". - Fixed: PLAY/STOP button can be used to cancel "Are you sure?" prompts.
EFFECTS/REVERB - Improved: ‘Small Hall’ reverb type. - Improved: Damper Resonance.
V1.04 (August 2012)
MENU - Fixed: “Virtual Tech.” menu incorrectly shown as "Concert Tuner" on non-Japanese instruments.
The software update and update instructions can be downloaded directly from Kawai Japan at the the following URL: http://www.kawai.co.jp/worldwide/support/updates.htmlPlease note that Kawai software updates are cumulative. I.e. the v1.05 update also includes the fixes and improvements of v1.04 etc. CN34 owners are encouraged to update their instruments to use this latest software version. Please feel free to post your feedback in this thread. Cheers, James x

James, On the topic of updates, I tried recording a wav to a usb stick on a CA65. Unfortunately the stick was already full but rather than throw an error the piano locked up to the extent that I had to pull the power and that caused a loud pop through the speakers.
Maybe something to look at in a CA65 update?

Maybe something to look at in a CA65 update? The R&D chaps have tested this using a full USB memory device, however they were unable to cause the instrument to lock-up in the way that you describe. In addition, the LCD display correctly shows a 'USB memory full' pop-up, before returning to the previous screen. I expect it may have just been a one-off occurrence, or perhaps a read/write issue with the USB stick. Kind regards, James x
