Hey all, well i got a piano thats been in my family for generations... I Wanted to know how old is he, his value, the story of the manufacturer and everything, so if u gize could help me out, ill appreciate it. Thanks

Its a Franz Liehr Liegnitz Upright Piano and its model number is 11272,and there is something written up the keyboard, is something like Sliebr or Liebr i cant figure it out. heres a picture of it:

I can't help you but it's quite an attractive and unusual case at least in my experience. The case appears to be in quite nice condition. Is this true or is the photograph somewhat misleading?

Thanks anyways, for its age (minimun 67) the piano still in perfect conditions and the photograph is 100% real, i just took it and put it in here =]

Your Liehr piano was built shortly after 1925. Liegnitz was a German city, today it is called Legnica and is in western Poland. The company was founded in 1871 and closed in 1947, when the owner died.

I believe you are referring to and perhaps criticizing the second post in the thread. Social interaction is viewed by many as an important, valid, and enjoyable means of forming and maintaing relationships within communities.

I also find the OP's piano to be very pretty.

One more question: Do You gize know how to get the yellow out of the keys? its ivory keys.

I have used pure lemon juice on ivory keys (piano circa 1900) and then put the keys out in the sun for five hours. It worked well, but that was in Africa where there is always sun.
If the piano is as good as it looks I would not bother to bleach the keys.

I'd say you are although I'd describe it as being "outrageously" followed by some far more negative word.

Are posters not allowed to ask questions related to a thread or just comment on what someone said?

Do you realize by your requirements the majority of PW posts are not "contributing"? Do you realize that many threads get sidetracked to a point where they have absolutely nothing do do with the original post?

I didn't mean to imply that the photo was doctored, but more that, in my experience, unless the photo is quite close up and extremely focused it may not reveal finish imperfections.

The value is how much someone will pay you for it. This depends on where you live and the local demand for such a piano. In most of North America and even Europe, so many old pianos are available that many are given away for free, while others are scrapped. Nice looking ones like yours can still fetch a few hundred dollars, maybe even up to $1000.

Be careful with trying to apply liquids onto the ivory key tops. They can curl and become unglued, which is worse than being yellow. Professionals remove the keys from the instrument and carefully bleach the ivory, then sand them finely and polish them on high speed buffing wheels with special buffing compound.

One fortunate thing is that we don't have to read topics or posts if we don't care to. And it is not necessary to comment on your opinion of whether or not a poster has anything to contribute. Just let it go. It's not like you're being charged money to read them.

Your piano is REALLY pretty! What a gorgeous colour.

I think it is a bit sad that black has become such a standard for pianos. Sure, it goes with any decor, but the natural wood tones are so much more beautiful.

I too would also like to say that that is a handsome looking case and if I had an upright sitting around here I would like one that showed some personality like that as well. (sound is important too of course).
