I think I first saw this on YouTube and fell in love with it. I have been working on this piece for a couple of months. Please feel free to comment.

Beautiful playing, Mike.

What does Invierno Porteno mean?

I love this piece. The wonderful melodies and the rich harmonies are a delight.

The beauty and joy of Latin-American music always amazes me.

Thanks for introducing me to this great piece of music. I'd like to learn it. Strange that he starts out in f# minor and ends in C major.

I see from google that Piazzolla's main instrument was the accordion, or something that looks like an accordion. I wonder if he played "Lady of Spain".

Thanks so much for posting your fantastic playing for us. I've listened to it seven times already.

Mike,

That was beautifully played - you have a nice feel for the tango. Man, now I have another piece on my pile of learn now pieces.

Piazzolla played the bandoneon - and you can imagine those big chord phrases pulled with the bellows. He usually played with a five piece band including a guitar, violin, bass, piano and bandoneon. Wouldn't it be great to play this music on piano with some other instruments?

Really enjoyed it!

i got a 'Le Grand Tango' CD of his tango music, with either cello-violin-piano trios or cello-piano works. i actually like it, even though i don't dance Argentine tango.

Wow, that was great, Mike! thumb It's not like your usual fare, is it?

I listened to it while following closely along with the score, and you seem to have nailed it. That's not at all an easy piece, so you deserve a lot of credit!

The only thing I noticed is on the 2nd page, 3rd line, first measure, where you go into all those fast and loud chords in the left hand, it sounded like you were pausing a little longer to start them than what was called for in the score.

I think Mike's taking a breath at the end of the phrase.

This gives the music more life.

Right on Mel. That was my idea exactly. I also added some notes in the base part at the Ritmico section on the first page. After listening to as many versions as I could find on the internet, I ended up with my own version of this piece.

No Monica, it's not Chopin for sure. It's good to have a change of pace once in a while. Granados and Albeniz are also in the works.

What a great piece Mike - thanks! I was in Buenos Aires a couple of years ago and developed a new appreciation for the tango, which is like religion there... There's a place called Cafe Tortoni with a small tango venue in the back - we were the only non-Porteños there, most of the crowd knew all the words and were singing along, weeping, clapping - it was just wonderful.

This is an excellent example - I'm learning it and it's great fun to play, add an ornament here and there... what a treat. Thanks again.

Mike,

I printed out the sheets, but I have to get a good recording of my Recital piece before I start working on it.

I downloaded the music and I am already hooked on it. What beautiful harmonies and rythms. It's now a permanent part of me and my piano.

I noticed the title starts with 4.

Does that mean there are 3 other parts or more? I tried to search for it but it has only confused me so far (that's a familiar feeling by the way).

Thaks for posting it. I love it!

I think I read that the three other pieces are Spring, Summer, and Autumn.

Thanks for the audio link, Mike - an interesting bunch of tangos!

Here's the official(?) word on Piazzolla's four seasons:

And they're available for printing here (free!):

Thanks a lot. I'm going to give the rest of them a try.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone who plays the Bandoneon smile

According to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandoneon

it looks sort of like a little accordian of some sort.

Mike,

Just as with your other shared performances, you played this with exceptional musicality and beauty. I've enjoyed all that you have in your box.net link. You are a wonderful pianist. Thank you for sharing. wink

Sincerely,

Lisztener

P.S. You may wish to change the way your Chopin Prelude Op, 28 No. 20 is displayed in the box.net list. After downloading it I had to rename the file to remove the comma after "op,", the period after "No." and add the extesion ".mp3" before my player would recognize it. On my computer it is now "Chopin Prelude Op 28 No 20.mp3"

Thankyou for sharing your very musical playing and great taste of music, Mike.

I'm also very pleased that you shared the sheet music as well, even if I think there is no way a cold Norwegian can get the feel for the Tango like you obviously have.... did you find it difficult ?

I saw this piece for the first time on youtube and there was something missing in these interpretation but your is perfect. It was really worth it woking on that piece for couple of months. <3
