Hi Everyone,

Hope you're all doing well, especially if you're on the East coast. Here is our interview with Yulianna Avdeeva, who won First Prize at the Chopin competition in 2010. Here, she talks about her background, her practice habits, and her time spent in Warsaw.

As always, thank you all very much for reading smile

>> ... a very important part for me is the mental practicing. Music is constantly playing in my head - almost 24 hours a day, even when I’m sleeping - so it’s difficult to say how many hours I practice per day. I often play the piece in my head, away from the piano, and solutions will come.

I hope there is an off switch, and a volume slider, otherwise.

I too am a proponent of mental practice. When I compose, if it sticks in my head, that is a good thing. If it doesn't, it probably means it isn't compelling. While not always true, it is an interesting guide to writing interesting music.
