Hi all,
I did an inspection today on an old model C (6'3"). The customer gave me a serial number that places manufacture at 1925. During the inspection, I did not find that number anywhere on the piano, but I did find #12xxx on the front of the key frame. Tt's always been my understanding that this is where Baldwin put the serial number (in which case, this piano would be a 1905). Can someone confirm this for me?

Baldwin is different from Steinway in this regard. They usually have a number that looks like a serial number but it isn't, stamped all over the piano. And the serial number is nowhere to be found if it's not on the usual spot on the plate at the break. Definitely annoying. Good luck and let me know if you find it, I have an old Baldwin in this situation.

Here's another Baldwin question: What were the various models of grands, and their sizes?

Here's another Baldwin question: What were the various models of grands, and their sizes? I doubt that even Baldwin had a complete record. There were model designations and scale designations, and a number of models for the various scales, and scales which changed without changing the model designation.
