Anyone running the Marathon on Sunday.

Do you think the Marathon should take place, delayed or cancelled. I think it should be delayed, too many people have suffered because of Sandy and the police and EMT are needed to provide assistance.

Others think running the Marathon this Sunday lifts the spirit, so what do you think?

both points could be argued. Such a large international event would be quite difficult to delay, though, despite the obvious catastrophe that just befell the area. I'll be interested in seeing the outcome

That's too bad because I am sure the city really needs the money. I also bet that some people will lose jobs or significant business because of the cancellation. I don't think the city should stop operating because of the hurricane......life goes on.

I guess the hurricane had a different idea.

Even speaking as someone who's a bit into it, I think it was insane to so stubbornly insist that they'd have it, and a good decision to finally relent.

I was just reading an article about 50 of my countrymen who had travelled to New York to participate in the marathon. While I can understand up to a degree their disappointment, their financial loss pales in comparison with it when people have lost their loved ones, besides the damage of properties and constructions has been huge.

The group's guide said they could have taken the decision to postpone the event earlier, don't know about that.

I would love to see someone organize all the would-have-been runners into disaster clean up volunteers.

This is a great idea. I'm sure they need all the help they can get right now.

They are doing it today. Marathoners and others are running in Staten Island to deliver badly needed goods to families.

I'm very happy with the decision to cancel it although it should have been made sooner.

Yes -- and isn't it great.
