Hi everyone. A friend of mine located in the SFB area has been looking for a digital piano for a while. She has no idea how to play but wants to take lessons so the piano doesn't need to be high end. Just something nice and hopefully reliable. She found a Roland hp 3800 in our area that's being sold for 500$ including the chair.
My own research told me that it was probably build between 1993 and 1996 which sounds pretty old to me. Still, Roland generally makes nice pianos I think and it's affordable compared to what else is on the market right now. Digital pianos in the Bay area usually go for a lot more. In particular Roland ones.
Any input on the model and if it is an ok price for it would be great. She's not trying to make great music with it, download to computer or do anything fancy. Still, 500$ are quite a bit and we'd like to hear some opinions on it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank!!

Hi,
You will get more responses on the digital piano forum here on PW. This forum is more for real, acoustic pianos.
If you like, I can move it over to the digital forum and you won't have to post another thread there.
Oh yea, I'm no expert, but that price seems way high to me for a digital piano that old, Roland or not... digital technology has progressed way beyond the mid 1990's.

I have a Technics which I bought new in 1995. It still plays just as well as the day I bought it. I'm posting this just to let you know that some of those digitals seem to last quite a long time.
My church bought a new digital about 3 years ago, and I can't tell that it has any more bells and whistles than mine (which is now 17 years old) does.

Thanks so much for all the info. Yes, it'd be great if my post could be moved so I would get some more feedback. Thanks again.
