This custom search works much better than the built in one and allows searching older posts.

Stürne piano brand

Hi all, I came across this upright piano today. It is not even listed in the Pierce Atlas. It is about 46 inches tall, light brown and from the look of it, could be around 80 years old. The serial number is 29727. There is no additional markings inside. The upper corners are rounded inward (somewhat looks like a European design!). It has 77 keys and 2 pedals.
Does anyone know where it was made???

Hi Norbert, I double checked the spelling and it is STüRNE.
Guapo, the link you gave me does not give much info.
It is not often that I come across a piano that is NOT in the Pierce Atlas!

Hi Gerturde,
I am an automotive engineer and have lots of friends who do old car restoration. When we find an old "unmarked" part in a junk yard we ALWAYS find somebody who can identify that part.
Now you are telling me that "there will be no answer" to my simple question? I find it hard to believe that with a nameplate saying "Stürne" on the piano that nobody on this forum does not know "somebody" who might know "something"!

Daniel If it looks European it could be European - and a possible stencil at that. Apparently there were loads of aliases with no way to track down the actual manufacturer. Read this interesting thread from Bill Kibby
