Hi,
In Southern California, what is the normal cost to have a piano action regulate and hammers re-voiced to be warmer? I'm considering on making an offer on a 2004 piano that hasn't been played much and it needs all the normal maintenance, whatever that is, to bring it back into its peak condition. Also, looking at the cast iron frame, around those round holes near the edge that about the size of a can of soda, I see some cracks about 1/4 inch long and wide enough to stick the corner of a business card in. Is this paint/finish crack and not a big deal or something to be concern about the stability of the frame? Thanks.

Whooeee! That is not something that you want to get opinions on via the 'net! Have a tech of your own hiring to examine it, as cracks where you describe them are fatal if in the plate, itself. Regards,

Hi Ed,
Definitely will hire a tech to inspect the piano as the frame concerns me. Waiting to hear back from the owner if she wants to lower the price first. I don't want to pay for an inspection if we don't at least agree roughly on the price.
Thanks, Jen
