Hi.

I bought a brand new Kawai's CN34 digital piano a few days ago by my local distributor.

It's really nice but i found a something strange about keyboard.

All G# keys are slightly pulled to the left.

Two space (between F# and G#, G# and A#) are not equal, so feel odd when playing.

It looks like a small glitch, but i don't think so. it may be assembled bad, i think.

Products that are made at the same period(same LOT) will have the same problem.

My CN34's serial number is G144457(MODEL:CN34B, TYPE:KA, LOT:129, date:2012/9).

Please check your CN34.

vcsel, please contact the dealer/distributor from where the instrument was purchased to report this issue.

i already had a contact my distributor, but they have no solution.
they said other CN34s have same problem.
May be same LOT CN34s have same problem, i think.

Vcel, my RH II om my ES7 looks exactly the same. Already reported this in another thread as comparisson to a Casio with some key spacing (with photo's). I think it is just the way the RH II is build and they are all like this. In other words, if it plays fine - it's more a slight cosmetic issue and I wouldn't worry about it too much. To me : I do see the unequalness , but I don't notice anything strange when playing. Some techies from Kawai we're here and although they had very limited time and came for something else, they didn't seem to notice anything 'strange' on first sight either about the RH II . So again, I think it's 'normal' and has probably something to do with the way the RH II is constructed.

If it's not as it should be I would like to know too...(little self interest here, although I don't really see this as a problem, more a small annoyance for someone searching for the ultimate perfection ;-)

Yes, i was too overly senstive, because it's my first DP. :-)

But when we think about how much effort(technology, money, etc..) for our finger setiveness, it's a considerable problem, i think so.

I don't think all RH II keyboards have the same unequal key spacings. Today I played both CN 24 and CN 34 and I didn't notice it.
By the way: I also played the "old" RH-keyboard of a CL 36 and I didn't notice any mechanical difference.

This problem seems to be particular products produced at a particular period(LOT), but not exactly.

How can you be so sure it's a particular series ? The RH II 's ive seen so far are all build in this way and they seem to function perfectly well. Cosmetically a bit off the perfect line maybe, but a product line problem ?? Are you sure ? How does it behave , any complaints ? Any other RH II users anything to add ? I wonder if this is not simply how the instruments are build and perhaps for a reason (g sharps bit off to the left for a constructional reason).

I agree that if it does not influence playing, it is only a minor cosmetic matter.

Sorry for my emphatic tone, relax. JUST MY OPNION! :-)
Cosmetic problem is not just a cosmetic, a portion of performance, because mechanical key is only interface between players and instrument, so i don't want to miss it.
A problem occured on keyboard, it is highly problematical whether particular series problem or particular LOT problem or product line faults or bad storage box setting,.. every possibilities are opened.
A end-user complaint, it may be improve product quality.

I understand your worries. Just wanted to emphasize , that so far it seems all RH II keybeds are simply build in this way. So is it than a flaw , or simply the way it is build - that's the question. Considering that (at least to me) , I notice no mechanical problems and such with the keyboard, I think it's how it is. Exchanging your cn would probably result in a same cn with almost identical keybed (including the spaces right of g sharps). So I would consider my options carefully before you decided on anything.
