Anyone else have this problem? It's only started recently that after I play for a bit I start sticking to my keys with the tips of my fingers. I've wiped down my keyboard to make sure there is no residue on it and I wash my hands before I play.

I'm not sure why this is happening. I thought at first it must be my keys but wiping it down didn't really help.

I'm not overheating (I'm usually freezing actually.)

Any ideas on how to fix/avoid this? Is it my keys, is it me?

Do you mean actually sticking, or just that there is too much friction? The latter happens to me when the skin on my fingers is too dry. If that's the case, skin moisturizer is the answer.

If they keys actually start feeling sticky, I have no idea.

LOL honestly I'm not sure. I'm used to fingers gliding off the keys so this is new. I don't think my hands are that dry (but it is the season for it.)

I'll try using some skin lotion for the next few days and see if that helps. Thanks. smile

BeccaBb, it's perhaps an obvious point, but I would suggest waiting a while for the cream/lotion to absorb into your skin before playing the piano.

Do check the keys - use a loupe or similar. Some Roland ivory key surfaces have/had a history of scratching and breaking up.

Thanks James. I'm not going anywhere near my board with wet/slimy/sticky hands. No worries. smile

I had heard/read about that issue. I will find a magnifying glass and take a look. I hope that's not the problem!

I think I might have figured out the issue (you are going to laugh.)

I think I'm developing calluses! All my finger tips are red and not sore but sensitive. LMAO I'm only halfway through my practice today. I've been upping my time from 30 minutes to an hour.

So um, yeah finger calluses.. Who know? blush
