Have had several quality control issues. GC has agreed to replace units. I am having my 3rd unit delivered next week.

1st unit: Level screw for pedals was bent and internal power supply was not screwed into place. I opened the piano and found power supply had never been screwed down and had moved around during shipment and did cosmetic damage to internal components. I did not want to take chance down the line and asked GC center to replace. They brought 2nd unit last week.

2nd unit: Worked great, however front edge had a gouge. GC center agreed to bring me a third unit next week.

3rd unit: We'll see. If it has any issues, I will be requesting a refund and purchasing another brand.

Strangely, the boxes on the 2 units I have received do not show signs of excessive abuse during shipment, therefore it is likely these are issues that occurred prior to leaving factory. Thus far, my experience with GC has been exceptional and the price was excellent as well. I am dismayed at what appears to be quality control issues at Yamaha - which is surprising, because the summary I have gathered is that Yamaha quality is top tier.

Update 10/22: 3rd YDP 161 had damage as well. Front edge had gouge like the 2nd unit. Item was opened and checked in-store before taking home. GC offered to have one shipped directly to my home. I decided to give it one more try and also decided to upgrade to a YDP-181. YDP-181 arrived 10/22 - unit is perfect.

I was torn between Roland HP-307 and Kawai CA 63/93. Finally chose the Kawai as I liked the action better. After playing the CA 63/93 I liked more the action with let-off simulation so I choose the CA 93. The sound is also nicer.

Sound-wise Roland is a bit more expressive but I plan to use Vienna Imperial someday and the difference was not so great as to be a deal-maker.

The dealer was very professional, I recommend them.

I initially came to the store to look at the new FP-7F ($1,899), but liked the sound and feel of the HP-305 better. The piano had a sticker price of $3,199. It took me several days to negotiate the price down to $2,600. Sam Ash initially offered me a 10% discount, but I found a better deal online, so in the end they matched that online price.
