Just thought i would post some videos of me playing piano and maybe someone could guess a grade for me, I only started to learn piano about 2 years ago and i love playing piano.

This one is a queen song in the key of F major - with left hand playing mostly octaves .

This one is me improvising over a C and G blues scale

If you can handle listening to my singing long enough let us know what you think, i have never had any piano lessons and i dont read music but i have had some great help from this forum.

I will try and offer something here Dazzie, as I don't deal with silence very well smile .

To quickly qualify myself ... I am not qualified. But here is my assessment anyway since you asked;

I think you have a nice feel. In my opinion, this is a big plus for you. I say this because of the Queen piece of singing and comping has the correct feel, to me. Needs a lot of work ... but hey a great start for you. So, keep working at it and you will only improve.

I believe the grading system is based on a particular method --progressive reading ability and theory-- of learning. Since you are not reading, I do not believe you fit into the grade system.

Is a grade important to you? I, for example am learning to read now after playing for nearly 40 years with extremely weak reading ability. Some of the material I play is classified in a grade 5-8 curriculum. Does this mean I'm at these grade levels? Nope, afraid not. Someone that is legitimately studying at these levels will smoke me when it comes to reading and theory. But who cares?

However, if it does matter to you, I would suggest you start learning to read. There are lots of ways to go about this learning business, and reading is pretty good one. But, not the only one.

Anyway, good luck. Your doing fine and loving it is the most important thing.
