Congrats Griffin! Can't wait to enjoy your beautiful performance again!

Very recently I've come across Simeon ten Holt and his beautiful minimal compositions. Right now I'm drugged with his famous composition: Canto Ostinato. It's really haunting, hypnotic, frightening, joyous - all at the same time. I'm not getting enough time to finish it completely but once I start listening to it it's very hard to stop it! Can't help sharing it smile

Rupak, nice to see you back! Thank you for your compliments. Everyone's been so positive. I still wince when I hear the damn thing. Ah, the pernicketiness of the perfectionist performer!

Rupak, it's nice to be in touch with you again. I'm looking forward to listening to your post as well. I am so glad to be done with the Satie recording. This was quite a challenge for me to work on a piece in a relatively short timeframe.

Richard, I can also relate to your comments about imperfections. I wanted to do so much more on that piece before I finally let it go. Btw, Rupak and you have reminded me that I have some catching up to do with listening to you both on the ABF Recital. I think I'll do that instead of doing another post today! wink

Later everyone! Enjoy the rest of your day!

Afternoon all, hope all is well smile

I'm worried that we've not heard from Rossy or Dipsey, I do hope they show up soon, so we can go ahead and publish our Recital frown

I hope they're ok! And I hope all of you are well.

This is one of those albums I've been meaning to get for a while, and just finally got around to it. I wish I had gotten it sooner. Jack White really channels they late 60's-early 70's rock era. I especially like how piano-heavy the album is.

Nice choices Aimee. I enjoyed hearing Jack White's music. It's good to see you back here. I'm sure it felt good to get done with your Satie piece.

Lately, I've been listening to a few old favorites by Soul II Soul. Here is "Back to Life" and "Keep on Movin'"

Enjoy the rest of your day!

I was sorting through various blues recordings and came across this one by Tina Turner performing "Rock Me Baby." She definitely put her own signature on this one.

You go Girl!!! wink

Hiya guys!

I haven't had a chance to listen to much of anything (still working my way through the recital thread.. LOL)

For being home full time, I have no time! Oddly busy right now.

Anywho.. here's a taste of my town.. and it kinda looks like that right now as we have snow and cold... hehe

Griffin, getting that recording done and finishing a paper for a class I am taking was a load. I'm glad that's all done. That paper was a mess. The more I got into it, the more I changed my mind about my approach. I thought it was going to never end (still might not be done - it's going to probably be sent back for revisions and who knows what else!). Now I think all I have left for that class is an exam, which is next week. I thought we had to give a presentation the week after but he hasn't mentioned it, and has been acting like next week is our last class.. I'm not banking on it. I'll be safe at 8:30pm on 12/11/12!

I too wish I could have done more with my piece. I was extremely naive going into recording. Being the stubborn thing that I am, I think I will have to join the ABF recital next time to redeem myself, along with the Mendelssohn recital. Actually, I was messing around and may have got a more relaxed recording today, but I'm sure I will get sucked back into trying to perfect it so I will keep it as is.

Becca, the international police have blocked me from seeing your town!
And Richard, great job with your recital piece!

and hi to everyone else!

My hands get tangled watching this! It was written for a harpsichord with 2 keyboards. The idea was that your hands should be crossed and one hand would be playing the upper keyboard and the other the lower keyboard. And this guy just does it on one keyboard.

Greetings everyone! Aimee, I totally relate about the trials and tribulations of getting our recital pieces readied for this weekend. I will be back to it again after the recital, however wink For now, however, I'm taking a break from it and catching up on other pieces I've been neglecting.

That was an impressive performance you posted today I got dizzy watching that performer's hand movement!

Becca, I wasn't able to see your town either. What's up with the International Police blocking us from seeing your town? What are you all doing up there that we're not allowed to see? Ah, the possibilities I could come up with! laugh

Anyway, I have a couple of posts for today. I've been listening to some great flamenco music by Iranian guitarist, Armik. Here is his performance of "Gypsy Flame". Enjoy!

Aimee, the Couperin was fun to watch and charming to listen to.

And thank you for the mention of my recital piece. smile

We have snow on the mountain tops here, Becca. Very pleasant on the eyes, not so pleasant on the tips (noses turn red, fingers and feet turn blue; all very patriotic with the white snow but not here in Ireland).

Btw, I had no problem with the International Police but there might have been something wrong with the transmission. The singing came out like rap! smile

Fortunately Griffin posted some Flamenco for my recovery. Thanks, Griffin.

Ooops, Griffin didn’t forget to post the videos. It was my browser that didn’t show them. That happens to me for making too many changes to its configuration.

Anyway, that was a great flamenco selection. Armik seems to have a personal style that is very convincing, since he plays passionately. I’m so glad you are deepening in flamenco music, Griffin. Thanks for these postings!

Hi folks - I'm back and can report that neither Rossy or myself have suffered floods - just been really busy with complicated stuff - the details of which would probably bore you!
so I'm sorry not to have been in touch about the Satie recital . I hope to have a recording of my piece very soon so hopefully this won't hold everyone up. AimeeO - I'm glad that its not just me! I think we all just do the best we can with the time and attention we have available and its not always as much as we would like.

Wayne thanks for holding the fort on this one.
