I am looking to purchase a digital piano for the whole family to learn on. My wife, daughter (10), myself, and eventually my son will learn on this piano. I have spent the whole weekend reading on this forum and I have come to the conclusion that the most paramount feature to look for is a good keyboard action that somehow replicates the feel of an acoustic piano.
It seems that software such as Ivory, Galaxy Vintage D, etc have the ability to model pianos and instruments better than the default voices built into the keyboards. This seems to overcome some short comings of the lower end keyboards in regards to the sound.
I do have several crown amps and studio and pa speakers in my studio so sound should not be an issue at all. There is also a dedicated computer for music production in the studio also.
The popular choice of action seems to be the following: 1. Akai MP6/MP10 2. Yamaha GH Action 3. Roland FP-7F or RD-700NX 4. Casio PX-3S/PX-350
From a price standpoint do I lose anything with an older Yamaha P120 vs a CP33 or CP50? It seems like the things I gain with the newer keyboards are overcome if I use the software.
Is it better to buy the latest keyboards to help prevent any obsolescence of technology or parts?
I had a chance to test the action of all these keyboards with the exception of the Kawai and I am leaning towards the Yamaha GH in terms of feel.
The keyboard we are most interested in mainly due to price is the Yamaha CP33, but I have a nice P120 barely used available in my neighborhood for $500 or best offer.

Solid. Be sure to check back with us later and let us know how it works out for you...if you have any complaints, etc.
