I noticed a dealer listed 4 year old Kawai GE-30 5'5 grand on Craiglist with picture for $9000. So 6 year factory warranty left! It is tempting, even we are leaning brand new Kawai K-6 upright from a very reliable authorized dealer which is a bit more of $9000.

I think it is risky to buy used piano, any good suggestion what I should do to approach this dealer? I think it won't hurt to take a look but it is 1 hr and 20 mins drive!!!!! I will not buy a piano without letting my daughter try it:)

Is a 4 year old Kawai means not from gray market because it is not too old?

ANy feedback is appreciated.

Give it a try. GE-30 is a nice little grand. Price sounds decent, too. Mine is now 5.5 years old, and I enjoy playing and hearing it. If your daughter doesn't like it you've wasted an afternoon . . . but is an afternoon spent with your daughter really wasted?

hkginger, where are you located? $9K for K6 seems little high to me. I thought in that price you could get a K8 in certain region.

I had played GE-30. I loved it.

Hi RIleyBunny, in NJ, K-6 was quoted $9770 plus tax from authorized dealer. Some room of negotiation.

you could have around 9 months ago. since then the new edition of LF was published and it documented price increases for the K series models. this might be reflective of dealer price increases? it's variable.

If you can get the serial number of the piano, please send it to me and I will verify the warranty status for you.

Decision! Decision! My husband and I have decided to buy a new Kawai upright K-6 that our daughter like at the reputable dealer in NJ here this Saturday.
Thank you all for your advice and feedback.
