Tried search and nothing popped up so...
Do you have a favourite key to play in ( other than the obvious C major)

I've only tried 5 or 6 but so far I seem to like d flat the most
Whenever I am assigned a transposition I like to send it there
Maybe it is the music selection or my vocal range but d flat clicks for me right now

Still an absolute beginner but learning every day!

Then you'll have to listen to this:

Personally, I would say A minor suits me well...

Not sure why you would mention C major as being an obvious favorite. Personally, I have no preference to what key I play in. But, sometimes a piece will sound better in a different key. I'm not sure why this is, as the relative pitches are of course the same. Perhaps, just because it belongs somewhere else on the register.

Something I read on another thread which made a lot of sense to me is that, all the various keys are not necessarily any more difficult to play in, but rather are more difficult to read in. Hence, why preference may be in leaning towards the fewer sharps and flats when learning to read.

Yes, this is definitely true for me, reading a new piece with 4, 5 or 6 six sharps is time consuming to me, then they throw in a few accidentals and double sharps.

However, once I struggle through learning all the notes, it's just as easy (or difficult) to play as any other key. At least that's my experience.

Somehow this strikes me as like asking a mason if he has a favorite brick - -

Slow down and do it right.

It changes all the time. Right now, C#minor, for obvious reasons.
