Hi. Spur of the moment today I decided to take my piano books to the senior's care home when I went to visit my aunt. I was invited to come back so thought that I should have a repertoire built for next time so I was hoping that I could get some suggestions please. I am familiar with most song titles from the era but not sure which ones would be best. The people in the home are probably 70 to 90 years of age, many of them do have alzheimers or dimensia.

Oddly enough I would've just said anything from the Great American Songbook, but after watching a PBS pledge-athon..you better include 50s Do Wop as well.. who would've thought so much time has gone by that Pat Boone is in his mid 70s! my how time flies..

O man it does fly, I was thinking 30's 40's so I was practising "ill be seeing you" but I better do something from the 50's too. P.S I secretly love PBS pledge-athons.

It became a wake up call for me when the PBS announcer called the Motown sound oldies.. I guess we'll be seeing more Motown specials in the future on PBS, all of the Doo Wop groups, the lead singers have passed away..its not the same..

I'm thinking you might get some good suggestions if you tried the Non-Classical forum here.
