Hey guys, I am currently in he process of studying Reminiscences de Norma. It was one of my dream pieces and I tried to learn it two years ago, but put it down because it was too hard. Now I can play about 18/22 pages of it! smile I am just so psyched!!! I need a little advice for some of the sections that I am having trouble with which are not quite there yet. I would really appreciate any help! Thanks:

For this section, no matter how slow I practice it, when I try and increase the speed, for those intervals within these runs, my fingers always seem to play the intervals separately rather than together. Is there a good way to practice this so that my fingers go down at the same time at high speeds?

Also, just so I can get some more information under my belt, what are some good ways to gain speed on some of the fast runs in this piece? Thanks in advance everyone! smile

You can play the whole passage in the same octave (just skip jumping up to the next octave) and see if that solves the problem. If it does, then you know there is a problem with the way you are doing the lateral shift - for instance, your arm may be lagging behind the upward sweep, or you are tensing up your hand as you do the shift.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion! smile

I don't really have a problem going up, it's the going down that is problematic for those intervals.
