As of last year at this time I recorded some Christmas tunes at the V-Piano, and, this year have recorded them at the Kawai CA95.

Here are the new ones from the Kawai CA95:

[Please note there are 12 seconds of silence before each recording starts]

1) "Chistmas Time is Here" (from "A Charlie Brown Christmas") by Vince Guaraldi:

2) "The Christmas Song" ("Chestnuts roasting on an open fire") by Mel Torme:

And, last year, at the V-Piano:

Happy holidays, to all!

Wow! That clarity sound from CA95 feels very good. It's probably the best DP sound I've heard in my life. The stage V-piano sounds good too. Thank you for posting your pieces. You played them very well. Happy Holidays!!!

I feel all warm inside now! Thanks for the tunes.

The CA95 is by far the nicest sounding Kawai I've heard so far. I'd be interested in hearing the same pieces on your EP3...

Thanks! Very impressive to once more hear how different the two brand´s character of tone is! And to me it´s impressive how good expression you have in playing a piano.

@voxpops,

Decided to post a new recording of the EP3 with yet another piece (not a Christmas tune, however, thanks for the request), so that others might hear its main "Concert Grand 1" sound.

Extra note:

And, thanks to everyone that have posted replies as I do appreciate all of the compliments.

Thanks again pv88!

The V-Piano sounds a lot more expressive (i.e, more timbre change between soft and forte). I think I prefer the V-Piano overall too.

Greg.

It's an interesting opportunity to directly compare modeled and sampled at similar quality levels. To me, the V exhibits a slightly truncated attack that is most noticeable in the (dare I say it?) middle register. However, as sullivang points out, it has a huge timbre range (beyond real???) and wonderful, swirling resonance. If nothing else, it sounds expensive!

The Kawai CA95 has retained more of the character of an acoustic piano, but it sounds to me as if, despite its beautifully clear tone, it does not respond quite as expressively. Of course, without playing it, one can't make that kind of statement categorically, but that seems to come through when comparing the two renditions of the Charlie Brown theme.

Interesting to have the EP3 as a third reference. I actually think that, resonance aside, it is no slouch, tonally.

The EP3 has good piano sounds, solid action, and, longer than usual decay with decent resonance.

The Casio AP-620 that I previously owned did not have sufficient decay or resonance.
