Hi everyone, i have a 1921 steinway Alll (REBUILT August 2012) and i have an issue with the 'c' two below middle c. When played loud it sounds fine at first then it does this weird thing that sounds like you are plucking it with a goitar pick. Its not a wa wa sound like a pulsation. I isolated one of the two strings and it only made the sound when the string to the left was played. This sound occurs when the note is played loud. My tech is on vacation right now so i was wondering if anyone had an ide what could be causing this.
Thanks

The string is probably banging against the damper wire.

Yep .... my bet would also be the damper wire touching the string when the note is played loud. Quite offen happens... but a pretty minor fault that is easy to correct.

The string is probably banging against the damper wire. Hello, I just seen that today on a mod O where an astute technician mounted all damper felts without underfelt, some 20 years ago. With time and compression of the felt now many bass notes have a parasitic tone if played strong enough.
