To all,
My daughter has composed a few very nice pieces for the piano. It is beyond my skill level to create a score for each by hand. Besides, it appears to be a very tedious process to undertake manually. Are there any electronic pianos or pieces of software available that will allow the notes/cords, etc. to be recorded live, then printed into a sheet music format? Not sure I'm being 100% clear here. Any advice will be very helpful. Thanks!

Yes, Finale Notepad is a good start.

Take care that you have set in your recorder the correct speed of the metronome and play exactly synchronosly with it. This will assure you a much better start with the initial score which you will still will have to improve manually a little bit.

a couple of extra thoughts...

1. Usually notation software (Finale) are not best for sequencing recordings and stuff. For this purpose there can be found sequencers (Repear, for example, which is also free to try with indefinite time limits.). It's better to record in a sequencer rather than a notational software.

2. I'm guessing that your daughter is not playing 100% correct the rhythms. I don't think many humans can play 100% correct the rhythms. For a computer, which is utterly mathematical and correct a slight get away from the tempo may result in a very bizarre looking score! In order to avoid that you'll need to set the threshold of quantize rather low, and once done you'll need to quantize the results. Quantizing in midi language means that you grab the note and move it to the closest mathematical correct result (so if a note is at 1:00,46 secs it moves it at 1:00), etc... This will save you an enormous amount of time in the long run.

That said I think that your daughter would benefit greatly if she sat down to do her own scores... It's great practice and will help her learn more about theory than any book or website or even teacher, and eventually it will aid her in many ways!
