Lovely! Thanks for sharing these, and, btw, welcome to PW! You had me captivated all the way through "White Christmas," and "The Christmas Song" was very enjoyable and entertaining listening! Very nice, indeed!

I noticed in your description of "White Christmas" on YouTube, you said, "Played solo piano arrangement...although there will never be a White Christmas in Cali."

Did you know?... that that is what "White Christmas," as a song, is all about? I didn't! Turns out, it's kind of the opposite of "California Dreamin'." grin Earlier this year, I found a vintage sheet music version, and there is an intro section (often called a "Verse" in this kind of format) that I had never heard before. For fun, I scanned the sheet from cover to cover, and I know this is probably an egregious copyright violation, but I claim here and now that it is for educational purposes only. Check out the lyrics to the start of the song, Mr. Cali-man! :

Andy,
Thanks a lot for your comment. You're right, I kind of had this assumption that just by the title, the song was about snow! Too bad I tend to pay attention more to the melody than its lyrics. But anyway, I appreciate you posting a chart of other version. Will be sure to check it out once I go home!

Justin,
good catch. years ago, my friend stood a bass next to the keyboard and it sled hitting that B key with its neck. And ever since that B gets stuck every time I hit it. Sucks.

ahh that sucks man! does it sustain when you let go or is there no sound at all from the key?

It sustains so I need to pull it out just after hitting that note, if a tune happens to include that note. I know, I should bring it to a shop to fix, but pain in the ass

Just excellent, jazzciel -- thoroughly professional in both. I liked the fact that you kept them in the jazz realm, so that they didn't descend into "cocktail noodlings". My only cavil is that I still don't particularly like the sound of "canned" strings, and would have preferred percussion only in "The Christmas Song", but it's a small point. Thanks for sharing this!

Andy, just a build on your historical comments about "White Christmas" -- amusingly enough, Bob Wells and Mel Torme created "The Christmas Song" in the mid-40's, during one of the hottest summer heat waves that LA had ever experienced!

Tim, I appreciate your thought. I very much agree on the canned strings. Wanted to make the song richer and full but without the real orchestra, the plug ins and music samples just produce limited quality of sound, especially with 7 yrs old equipment I have, and my slumping orchestration skills. Gotta work on it!
