I'm going to learn a few new Joplin pieces this year. Any opinions as to which one?

Each of the last three years (2012 inclusive) I've upped the amount of time I've practised. I hope to do that again in 2013. It's made a huge difference in my piano playing. And yes, it's not just time, it's focused time Cathy

Do they call her the "wife-unit" in church? haha I'm more focused on getting a book published than any piano performance goals. I would like to get the "Stars and Stripes" back up to snuff. It's a real fun piece to play, and a crowd pleaser, but my hands are a little small for the minor tenths in the middle section, and in the arrangement I play, the left hand is ridiculously active in the last section. For Joplin, might I suggest starting with the Entertainer? The Maple Leaf is a little more difficult, and if you haven't played much Joplin, or stride really isn't your thing, then it might be easier to wean into it. Now, if stride is your thing, then rock on and go after the Maple Leaf. Great piece!

Ditto that! The Entertainer was the only thing I could play (albeit one handed) before I started having lessons, once I got to it in Alfreds book, and completed it, my brain blanked it out in horror that i must of played it 10000 times lol
