Cheryl, thanks. I got my own thread. I'm totally flattered. I feel spoiled (happy tear). Even my husband is going take me out to a fancy restaurant called Cowboy Ciao. Yes, it's Arizona's attempt to be sophisticated. He is a good guy but every year he forgets about my birthday. Thank you Jim. Oh I feel so special. Have a happy new year!

Thank you! I'm thrilled to see so many good wishes. I just got back from a dinner with my husband. I hear fireworks in the distance. Even though it's not really for me it's nice to feel the celebration. Happy new year to everyone.

Happy birthday Farmgirl. My dads birthday is the day after Christmas so he always gets jipped on presents. But your birthday is on New Years Eve with the whole world celebrating along with you every year. How cool is that?

Have a great day.

In the U.S. it's great to have a birthday on the 31st. Its a bit off the topic, but InJapan, it was not so good since it is a day you are supposed to eat a humble bowl of passover noodle (buckwheat noodle). It's a day of reflection before the new year (=big celebrstion) and you cannot make it rich and festive. So no cakes or parties (yes, I was deprived). At night we had to listen to 108 gongs (=the number of human sins) and go to a shrine to get sesame smoke on my head (believed to make kids smarter). I was raised a catholic but my mom was a firm believer of the sesame smoke. Well It did not work.

No cakes or festive parties, just a humble bucket of wheat soup, 100 gongs banging, plus getting wacked upside the head with a smoked fish or some garlic sesame thing.....what fun is that?

Yes, you certainly have been deprived. we need to change all that. Adjusted for recessionary setbacks, we're gonna soon party like it's 1999 all over again.

"I was raised a catholic but my mom was a firm believer of the sesame smoke. Well It did not work."

Well I was raised catholic too, but I didn't have the advantage of the sesame smoke. Maybe that's been my problem all these years. Does seem to have worked for you, though, FarmGirl smile
