Last night I played a Yamaha that appeared fairly new and was surprised to see if had only 2 foot pedals...was there a specific year[ or yrs] that this was common?
Seems so rare to me.

It was probably built for the Japanese market, which is less fussy about 3 pedals that we are in the USA.

That seems pretty long for a pedal.

I have one here that I tune quarterly. It is a grey market yamaha. Very different from the 3 pedal yamaha. I replaced the strings 6 months ago and called in the order, after receiveng them, they would not fit only to find out there are different specs for the grey market. Had to make a pattern and send in. It has never held tune. Supposedly the manufacturing process is different than the American market.
